Best Place to Change Currency?

Hey,

I'm travelling to Singapore and Philippines in about 10 days now, just wondering if anyone has any advice as to where would be the best place for me to exchange my money for SGD? I've already got my money sorted out for while I'm in the Philippines. Also note I'm still a full-time Uni student if that'll get me any better.

    I travel through South East Asia 2 to three times a year. As long as you are happy to carry Aussie $ in your money belt that is the cheapest option. In Singapore there are money exchanges everywhere. you just walk past a few and when you see the best rate you swoop. The money exchanges don't charge commission .

    For comparison I have many times cashed money and then used my CBA card at the ATM. The bank charges you $5 the overseas ATM charges $5 and they rip you off on the exchange rate to the tune of about $5 and thats on approx $200 aus.

    Depends on how the exchange rate changes of course. If you cashed all your money here and the rate goes down you would be in front. I have always taken some money from Australia and found that that UAE exchange to give the best rate and no commission

    the Aust Post Office is pretty good but every time I get a quote the UAE comes in better

    Lucky plaza shopping centre at Orchard road. Don't change at the airport because the rates are pretty crap.

    The best option is always at the country you are visiting! Never here in Australia. But with that being said, do change about AUD$20 just in case you needed it for taxi/bus or other foods as soon as you landed.
    In Asia, there are money exchanging stalls or banks that gives quite a reasonable rates. Especially those Indian own exchangers =) They are often negotiable and generous~

    Thank's for the comments guys, I'll probably wait til I get to Singapore then.
    Went and got 50$ exchanged in the city just recently so that when I arrive I atleast have a little currency to get to the hotel. 1.28 Didn't seem like too bad of a rate until they added 10% commission..
