Just bought this, and for this price, i could not be happier with the keyboard. The quality is top-notch, well-built, and comes with a free gaming mouse. Haven't used the mouse just yet, but super-happy with the keyboard. The RGB lights are on the dim side, but aside from that, could not find any other fault with the keyboard.

It uses the brown switches, and its low profile (which I prefer). Plus it's TKL, so that's a big plus for me. Hot swappable keys, but i'll probably never use that. $58 for this package with Amazon Prime.

This keyboard seems to have a huge following. From what I've read, it's great for the price tier. This is frequently recommended in Ozbargain in place of more expensive keyboards.

Does anyone have any first hand experience with this and a different more expensive keyboards?

    • The recommended one is the non low profile, as its hot swappable and you can put pretty much any switches in it. LP only supports Outemu LP switch.

      • I have the full-size non-LP Tecware with brown switches and really like it. It replaced a Corsair K70 with reds which I hated typing on.

The full size Tecware ($65 on Amazon) seems to be pretty much the same thing as the Glorious GMMK which costs $99 without any switches, or $169 with a full set of browns.

        • Did you hate it due to switch type?
How does it compare on build quality?

          • @ihfree: Mostly the switch type, it was my first mech and I didn't really know the difference. The keycaps also felt a bit too tall and narrow at the top, the phantom's seem flatter and wider.

    • Its fine. I've had it for a while. Very very pleased initially. Its got all the rgb stuff, and hot swappable. More to the point it is in stock and its very very good value. I would buy this without hesitation again. There is nothing wrong with it at all.

BUT I don't think outemu switches are quite as nice as cherry - although its a been a long time since I had the cherry's. So I could be mistaken.

Saving up up for cyberboard r2 with topre switches.

      • That's quite a change both in board price and switch. I really like Topres. They're great for typing. I'm tempted to pick up a Topre TKL.

Personally not a fan of outemus, though I've only used them in a friends Kogan keyboard.

Regarding build quality, I think it shows having used keyboards across the price spectrum but as with most things there are diminishing returns.

Throughout Covid I've mainly used optical browns and box whites(clicky) with the latter being my favourite over the last year.

        • These are slightly different from other Outemu switches in that they are slightly lower profile (the switches are slightly shorter).
The click mechanism is interesting, how it uses snap springs (https://youtu.be/vI0HB3xivfM?t=172) instead of the typical "click jacket" that Cherry MX blues use.

      • Doesn't Cyberboard use MX type switches?
Surprised to see Topre being mentioned with it, Topre uses completely different mechanism to Cherry MX style design (it's a slider over a rubber dome, over membrane, they have a spring inside the rubber dome which is used solely for the sensing of the key press)

        • I'm not spending that sort of money on a keyboard, it was a joke.

          • @hotukdeals: Ahh, missed it as it's an oddly specific joke that would have required Google.

  • And it's gone.

Blue switch version is still available :)

  • Same keycap font as the Kogan keyboards on the Brown switch version if that means anything.

  • How is this low profile? the keycaps are full size.

    • I own it. It is only a little bit lower than their regular one.

The switches aren't the normal cherry mx form factor, they are considerably smaller in height. The key caps are also lower profile.

Due to that the blue switches aren't quite the same as usual as they cheat with a clicker bar.

With that said for the price its a good KB and I'm happy with mine.

      • Granted, I think the snap spring design is fairly ingenious. I am going to get one with blue switches just to see how it feels (since it is different from normal Cherry click mechanism).

  • Awesome deal! Thanks OP, grabbed 2 ;)

    • Let me know how you like yours. The mouse is kinda cool too.

  • Hot-swappable at this price? Whoa

Does anyone know what switches are comptaible with this if i want to swap them in the future?

Is it only Outemu or certain low profile Cherry, etc?

    • Outemu low profile only in red, blue or browns judging by YT reviewers.

      • Hmmm i see…

Hopefully the brown Outemu is good…

I haven't had good experience with brown Outemu in the past…

At least with Amazon its easy to return.

  • $65 incl postage on PCByte website. Though I'm not sure about the mouse, doesn't seem to mention it on th PCByte site nor the Amazon listing…?

    • Not sure how PC byte came about in this listing. Mine was a different seller, fulfilled by Amazon.

  • Damn, I bought this (without a mouse) from PCByte store a few weeks ago for $55 delivered, could have really used that free mouse haha. Oh well, it's a great keyboard and significantly lower than full height Cherry MX switches with high profile keycaps. Decent noise reduction compared to other models according to the web too

    • Quick q Jengel - Trying to set up a combo key to one of the keys with the sftware. Seems to work for two key combos but not 3. Did that work for you?

      • Haven't tried it sorry. Software works fine for me otherwise

  • Just got this today. Both keyboard and mouse are awesome. I can't believe how much of a difference playing a FPS is with a light-weight mouse… its soooo good :D

    • That's great. Which keyboard did you move from? Did you get the brown or the blues?

      • I'll never go back to blue :P way too loud so I went with the brown

I was already using a red-switch mech keyboard… which I'm sending back to amazon cause the c key was not registering sometimes (thought I could change switches but cant >_<) so is nice that the new one can do that and has some spares :)

Oh and I think I like the sound of this keyboard more, actually seems better/quieter than red ;o

        • Do you find the RGB's a bit on the dim side? not that big a deal I guess, but was expecting a bit of a mini-disco to happen based on what i've seen on YouTube (this is my first mech keyboard)! :)\

Aside from that, the browns are a fantastic typing experience. Haven't done any gaming yet, so the mouse is still in the box!

          • @gorr80: try press fn + up arrow to increase brightness
seems fine to me, also with the software installed maybe that will allow for further brightness too

          • @gorr80: Download the software, you can change it.

    • This is a suprisingly a very nice sounding Outemu Brown and I never realised that typing on a low profile keyboard is less tiring than the othe mechanical keyboards that i have…
