Currently looking at this deal where you get $800 off an iPhone if you sign up with a 12 month plan with Telstra.
I'm currently an existing SIM only Telstra customer and I was wondering if there's any loopholes such as porting off and porting back to get this deal?

You just need to sign up with a new number even if you’re already a Telstra customer. As far as JB is concerned, it’s a new connection which is all that matters to trigger the deal.
Then you just need to go into a physical Telstra store (or maybe can be done online but I did in store) and ask to cancel the old plan and merge the number to the new plan. If you have an early exit fee they will just be added to the bill of the new contract on the following month.
They might be reluctant to do it because it will say JB/GG Telstra Plan and they might say they can’t do it. Just press the issue and say they can. Last girl I had said it wasn’t possible even though I’d done it before and then she was like oh okay I’ll give it a go and if worked fine.
sign up with a new sim and then move your existing number over to the plan, or port out for 1 month and port back in
