  • How does this compare to Hoselink?

    • +5

I have 2 different Hozelock hoses, one bought as a hosereel set from Costco, the other from some deal here.
Both promoted themselves as being "Made in the UK"
The Costco Hosereel is of middling quality about on par with a Holman, the other hose is absolute trash, by far the worst hose I have ever had the displeasure of using.

I have replaced the shit hose with a Hoselink and will never buy another brand of hose, the difference in quality of everything is night and day.

    • I had one Hozelock from an OZB deal, it kinked and leaked. Hoselink is much better.

It doesn't compare, hose link stuff is pretty trash been using my hoselock for 6 years now no kinks no twist feels softer and pliable with age but very strong have ran the mower over these by accident and no issues (wouldn't recommend) left out in full sun the whole time and no uv damage or discolouration - hose link did exactly the opposite.

I own the ultra flex not ultimate*

      • So you have the same brand as the one posted on this deal. NFR has the LOCK, same as you, but they dislike it. You seem to love it.

        • Probably not the same as the ones on a reel are usually those shitty grey hoses or the dark mustard yellow, not the ultraflex or ultimate. Ultimate is top tier, ultraflex second the only difference I believe is they are marked as anti crush and ultralite otherwise they are the same.

Ive used the best offerings from pope and hoselink definetely not the same quality and have used them everyday for the last 10 years at work :)

          • @bargone: Ah makes, more sense now. I'm a reel noob (get it? ;) ).
So your advice is buy hoseLOCK Ultimate or UltraFlex.

So get this deal, as it's a good one and will last me a few years for general garden and car wash use? Thanks for the advice. :)

@lordra: with a 30 year warranty im sure it will last you a reel long time ;)

I almost bought the ultimate and realised I have a retail problem and dont need any more hose haha

              • @bargone: They just reel you in with these deals don't they?

What's the best way to store one of these in a town house? Backyard or garage?

I'm thinking about getting this one as it will not scratch the car if it comes in contact and easier to wind and out away. Thoughts?

  • Bunnings should pricebeat

    • Looking again, I'm don't think Bunnings have stock/still sell it.

  • Not available at Bunnings according to link provided. And, search didnt bring up any hozelock hoses either

  • I didn't think Bunnings sold Hozelock

What do people have against kink???

  • Does anyone know if this works in the auto hozelock reel?

    • I don't think anything works in the auto Hozelock reel - not for long, anyways.

      • My reel works fine, has for 2 years now just the hose got chopped by a whipper snipper

      • +1

Iv had the 50m hozelock auto real for over 6 years paid $79 down from $280 at masters with price beat they beat Costco price lol
        Still Woking as new

I am going to ask my mum to knit me one

    • If it is knitted, how does it stop water leaking out?

      • +2

        Water you talking about?

  • 30 Year Guarantee. Does anyone know how that works?

No way a hose could last 30 years outside in the elements

  • Any suggestions for a hose roller to use this with?

  • Would this last me 5 years if I leave it out in the Aussie sun?

  • I'm still using the Hozelock with metal reel I bought from the UK about 16 years ago. The hose itself is good but one of the plastic connectors broke and I replaced it with something better.

Never even had a hose last 5 years but who keeps the receipt? Nowadays I keep buying the cheapest one, not worth stealing. We also had drug addict coming round at night dying to drink. They were unable to operate or remove the trigger spray so they used a knive to cut the hose!

    • I had one Aldi one that I bought secondhand >6 years ago (likely >7).

Half of it has been sitting out in the FNQ sun for 3+ years connected to various sprinklers at different times (other half loosely wound up in hose reel). Still going good.

It might be they were looking for a tube for the OJ bong, happened to us plenty times!

    Notice:
These are the "thin" 12.5mm diameter hoses.

Nothing wrong with them if OK with the final volume of water.

Personally I go for the 18mm = More water, more watering done … more quickly …

  • So mixed reviews on this one. Guess I'll give it a pass, unless someone can advise otherwise.
