Quarantine Free Travel to NZ and Return

Dear all,

I have booked a holiday in NZ later this year. I have received an email from the Airline which has said

To be eligible to travel from Australia to New Zealand on a quarantine-free flight you must first meet the following eligibility criteria:
• you need to have been in Australia or New Zealand for 14 days prior to travel;

Does this mean if I stay in NZ for 5 days and was in Australia for a month before that, I can freely return to Australia without any need for quarantine?

Thanks

    Yes, it just means you can't have been anywhere apart from Australia and NZ in the last 14 days (i.e. not recently returned from overseas).

    • Many thanks, that makes it clear.

    • ^^^^ Yes this…

      I mean it says it right here

      • you need to have been in Australia OR New Zealand for 14 days prior to travel

  • Assuming a month in Australia is 30 days, and you stay in NZ for 5 days - if you add the two, how many days would you have been in 'Australia or New Zealand' prior to your flight back to Aus?

      I just wanted to know if they meant 14 days separately in NZ as well. Thank you for being a smart <>

      • That comment is being a smart <>

          Its even worse, hes actually a psychiatrist with a medical degree and according to him 5 years medical school plus 5 years specialist training https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/581045
          Imagine interpreting antipsychotic medication prescribing indications when youre confused by this "you need to have been in Australia or New Zealand for 14 days prior to travel;"

          • @Meho2026: May have been some self diagnosis taking place prior to OP's post.
