I got this code sent to my email because I started doing an online order but then I cancelled it in the final step.
It's still not much but better than nothing.
Just add the code when checking out.

It is not the best network and thats's why I didn't end up signing up with them.
I did this informal test with my work mates who all have iPhones and are with 3 different networks.
These were the 3G speedtest results
1) Vodafone 3G speed download was 0.93 Mbps
2) Optus 3G speed download was 2.10 Mbps
3) Telstra 3G speed download was 7.03 Mbps
All the tests were done at exactly the same time and in the exact same proximity.
I'm definitely going with telstra because I think it's better value. Whats the point of having 3Gb download with Voda if you can never reach that limit if you downloaded 24/7.
Voda is not the best but it is the cheapest alternative for some people out there.
Were they holding the phone correctly?
Not holding the phone at all. Just side by side on the desk.
All with the same or no protection case? Not try to argue here, just want to make sure it this test is accurate as it can get
Cheers.
It was tried without the silicon case and that showed 0.80 Mbps for Vodafone.
This is an informal test. It should be done several more times and the parameters should vary to get an accurate conclusion.
@SKiZO stop living in 2010 and welcome to 2012 the vodafone network has improved and is still improving.
Having been a vodafone customer for about 8 years, I disagree with that statement. I still get dropouts, no internet, blackspots, No Service, etc, all the time. Can't wait to get off the network. My record is about 25 phone calls to hold a 10 minute conversation.
im not saying they are perfect. But where i am i find them better than optus. and i cant afford to pay Telstra's prices
The last speed test i ran on voda was this morning and was 4000kbps.
Speed test range from 1000-4300kbps with n average of 2000kbps
drops out may be once in a 1 hr call.
Pretty good for me.
Note. for Sydney most of the roll-out for the new equipment runs form the west to east. So the city will experience the better network the last(April-May). possibly why we still have so many people complaining
i dropped optus after around 10 years for voda coz they had the phone i wanted…
bad idea….3g is useless 9/10 of the time and 100% of the time down at Perisher..reception comes in and out…bad call quality…called to complain and they just wasted my time.
dropping them the first chance i get.
You can drop them within 30 days of signing up.
You've been with Vodafone for eight years? Why, given the problems you're talking about?
The vodabots were quick on this one.. can't knock Vodafone on OZB. Please transparently state your affiliations mods!
A deal is about getting the full service/product at a reduced price. For some reason the Vodafone advocates on here overlook the reduced service because of the reduced price.
The reduced service isnt really that bad anymore. I signed to voda a couple months back (and i can afford telstra) and to date been reasonably happy with the service. Get full reception at home, office, gym and uni as well as most places I go.
Yes but you actually make a call? With Vodafone, full reception still means you can't call out! Not all the time, but enough to get annoying.
Yes I can. Every time.
Edit: Im not affiliated with voda, and theyre certainly not the best. Just that they DEFINATELY not as horrible as they were/were made out to be back in early 2011.
my wife is on voda and it works fine (Central Coast, NSW)
not as fast as Telstra but pretty close and about 2/3 the price which is important for us
bashing something for the sake of bashing it doesn't help those looking for bargains
Another totally anecdotal data point, but here it is anyway. I got off the voda network early in 2011 when they were terrible. My girlfriend was stuck with them on a contract though. The network got a little better for a while mid-2011, but then in the last 2-3 months or so it got really bad again (at least in postcodes 2600 to 2602), to the point where she finally had to go to the TIO since the voda reps just had her going around in circles (when she could actually contact any, that is).
Voda's call centre is terrible, still. Their online reps (twitter, whirlpool, their own forums) are a lot better, in that they'll actually engage with you, get back to you, etc. But they're still all just trying to promise you whatever they think will get you to stay on the network.
So its just a one off code for the first month only..
Vodaphone is good, but not great at the moment - for my locale at least.
I'll put it this way, which will give you a bit of perspective.
I've just arrived back in Sydney from living in rural Nepal for most of last year. My iPhone on NCELL nepal was able to get 4 bars, in a very remote village. Here on Sydney's Northern beaches, near the city, I'm barely able to scrape 2 bars.
Voda's got a lot of work still to do in some areas.
i'm with vodaphone. despite all the ads during the cricket claiming they're spending $1 billion on their network, it still seems to be as shithouse as ever.
Unless your mobile phone handset covers the 850 MHz UMTS 3G radio Frequency, you really wont get the most out of the Vodafone network upgrades.
Most new Nokia handsets cover 5, yes! all 5! UMTS 3G radio Frequencys
In Australia, most handsets only cover 900 MHz and 2,100 MHz in the UMTS 3G radio Frequency band :(
what are we looking at here?
