Good price. would have been nice to have 1660ti instead but can't complain at this price point.

Bought this from the last Amazon deal. While it’s good and quick enough. The fan is so loud. Even doing the most mundane things the fan kick starts!

    • Try changing the screen to 60Hz. That might help reduce the load.

    • Typical Asus has an Ultrabook that did the same got tired of that and flipped it.

I have had a UX360UA for over 3 years now, with a fan control application installed. I haven't had to touch it since installation, and the fan never ramps up until I have a few programs running. I agree, the default behaviour is not cool. Asus has the fan going from 35 degrees C, that's too cold.

I've used 2 new ZenBooks and they have fixed this.

Highly recommend the Legion 5 instead of this. Same GPU but with the AMD 4800H. Also runs super cool and quiet I can hardly hear the fan. I picked one up last week for the same price.

Undervolt or disable turbo with Throttlestop.
Check if your laptop is supported by Notebook FanControl.

Better value to be had elsewhere

1650ti is useless for a 144Hz screen so you may as well save your $$ on several components if you’re buying it for gaming the value just isn’t there but you’re welcome to waste your money on the plethora of other $1200 even $900 deals for a 1650ti system since the major stores can’t clear them fast enough

Otherwise it’s hard to argue against paying more for:

1660ti @ $1400 for 30-50% better gaming performance and just about sufficient FHD performance in some games eg. TUF on wireless one; or

2060 (2020 model 115W) @ $1600 for 50-70% better gaming performance and better FHD performance even 1440p in some older games

        After that for smooth 1440p performance you’re looking at a 3070 system @ $2400

Fair point that a 1660ti is a massive difference in performance

much better bang for the buck I daresay

        $1200+ with the code KONG7

5600m is closer to 1660ti in performance, and ryzen 4800H is a solid 8 core CPU

        • yeah much better, although it is dell…..

Sadly the screen is only 57% sRGB. The worst I've ever heard of.

    • Lol they go as low as 45% sRGB which is like.. Atari colors.

      • +1

No. That's 45% NTSC which is 72% sRGB. It's a very common low-end colour gamut.

        • Ah yeah you're right

    • I bought the 62% sRGB G15 thinking it couldn’t possibly be that bad… it was really bad

      • +2

Of course it was. Half way to black and white relative to what our eyes can see.

I have the Ryzen (R7-4800H) variant of this laptop so I'm not sure if this applies for their other models. Their keyboards only have a 2 n-key roller which meant I couldn't even press any other buttons if I was sprinting in an FPS game. Ended up just plugging in an external keyboard to avoid that.

    • +5

2 n key roll over is so stupid

  • How many nits?

  • Affordable price, but there's a reason for it.
