LG C1 55” OLED 4K TV (2021) $2880 + Free Delivery @ Videopro

290

While procrastinating and looking at prices for my dream TV, I noticed Videopro had a decent deal on this LG C1 model OLED. Their promo also offers free shipping on LG OLED TVs too.
Not exactly cheap, but I haven’t seen it this low before.

UPDATE: Appears to be cheaper here now - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/625071

  • to get this or cheaper cx?

    • Neither are cheap right now compared to historical pricing for the C8 & C9, and when you look at global pricing there's still no reason for it.

Not a fan of this being about $100 more expensive than the CX at the same time in the product cycle either.

You'd think with a lower MSRP you'd see lower prices, but I guess we'll see when the post-launch shipments arrive.

  • I bought a CX yesterday and was speaking with the JB guy about the C1. The lowest they could do was $2.9k which would bring it to ~$2.75k with gift cards. You could probably get a bit more off bargaining between the main three.

Decided to go with a CX from HN for $2.1k.

$2100? Hell of a bargain mate. I'm in the market, did you have to bargain or were they offering that price?

      • Thanks. Not at all. I went to JB and asked their best price and he immediately said 2.25k without any effort from my end.

I got Harvey Norman to price match as I can get giftcards for 7.25% off and their salesman said that they were making $6 on the sale.

Pretty sure mine is C9, LG going back on model numbers?

    • +1

      It’s year based - C9 = 2019, C1 = 2021

      • +1

That's actually a very sensible system. So my C9 is a 2019 model, but I bought it one year after release like any Ozbargainer would do.

    Shoutout to the 55" C9 $1712 club @ JBhIFI.

  • They’re also doing a promo price on the rest of the 2021 range.

I’m not in the market as grabbed a CX a few months ago, but pretty good price on the 65” C1 too - sub-$4000:

You’d expect all retailers to offer this promo pricing as likely set by LG.

    • Considering the C1 MSRP set by LG is lower than the price they set for the CX… It's to be expected, or rather I should say one would hope that we would be seeing the C1 going cheaper than the CX was at launch.

      • And yet that's not happening yet, and the CX was awfully priced in AU for most of its product life (still is).

Hopefully that changes in the next few weeks.

    • Only another $1000 off til I get one. (Although will consider the Sony, and love the 77")

    • Just bought one. My Panasonic plasma played up about this time last year. Went searching for a replacement OLED but just missed the run out deals. Fortunately I somehow managed to get the plasma to last another year but it is started playing up again a couple of weeks ago but worse. Luckily the sales are still on. The BX seems a bargain. I am going from a 50 inch to 55. Yes a 65 would have been nice but not for 50% or $1,000 more.

Thanks for the comparison with the C1 which is $2,995 at JB for the 55 or $1,000 more. For what is basically the same TV. No difference in that comparison.

    • Wow both 8.8. I guess the HDR difference is tiny.

  • HN offered me $3750 for 65 C1. Went with a display CX for $2900. Not bad. Considering it’s covered under original warranty. Factory plus has carton damaged only CX for the same price but you only get shop warranty with it.

    • As long as you are certain it is covered under warranty. There are quite some horror stories with display/demos not covered, and due to the heavy usage as demo, often the OLED can be worn out much easier.

Would never ever get a display unit. I looked last year for an LG OLED but left it a bit late so only a couple of demos were available at two different stores, one being Harvey Norman. Typically these are the same same display units they use since the TV was released. So when they come to sell them after the new models are released, the display unit is around a year old, or a month or two more. So 13 or 14, maybe 15 months old.

        Think about this.

These units are on EVERY DAY. Seven days a week. They get turned on when the store opens usually 9.am and are left on all day until, closing about 5 or later on late night shopping. Some stores close at 6 not 5.

You are looking at an average of over 8 hours a day every day. They are also often on display mode, which is brighter to stand out against bright store lights.

If you buy one, you are buying a tv that has seen at least two years average normal use, more like 2 1/2 to 3 given the settings they use. I would say the average life of these TVs is about ten years. Which means your tv has used 25 to 30% of its average life.

So you would need to get AT LEAST 25% to 30% off the discount runout price of a brand new unit to even begin to think about buying one. Or be sensible and don’t buy it.

        • Yeah you have a point. Never bought a display before. It is still in store so I can back out. :) I’m getting it delivered for our new house.

      • Sorry failed to mention that I bought it from JB. They said burn-in is included on their 2.5 yrs warranty. That’s my major concern about buying a display, salesman immediately says it’s covered. Tossing between BX and CX. Went for the CX as I’m planning to keep the TV for a long while.

        • If you are keeping it for a while, why get a display unit that has already used up 25 to 30% of its life….

  • If you can get access to The Good Guys Commercial you can get:

    LG G1 55" - $3002
    LG C1 55" - $2573 / 65" - $3603 / 77" - $6863
    LG A1 55" - $2316 / 65" - $3260
