Gimmick
I’m holding out for 16K
Don't even have 4K XD
When 720p was starting to be produced, people called it a gimmick due the the early adopters price.
When 1080p was starting to be produced, people called it a gimmick due the the early adopters price.

You see where this is going, right? The only use case for this TV currently is if you own an RTX 3090, but that will change in the future. Not saying this TV is a good buy, it isnt, but calling 8K a gimmick is silly.
Sorry, that's rubbish.
The introduction of HD @ 720p was a huge leap. In real, visual terms, the biggest difference. Go and find anyone who called it a gimmick!
The difference between 720p and 1080p is negligible when watching video, as is 4k and 8k. For the human eye to distinguish the difference between these you need to sit closer than almost everyone does in their living room. Projector, maybe not. This is why other factors in recent times have been the focus of display quality, like contrast for example. Resolution is great for salesman though, they can say '8k looks twice as good as 4k', even the biggest idiot can relate to those mathematics.

…yeah, thats all I need to hear to know you're talking out of your rear end.
Even if that were true, which it absolutely isn't, its silly to assume the only thing people use TVs for is watching video.
@Vinodra: It is true, which is why I specified 'video'. If it's a still image / text, etc, easier to see, sure. What % of viewing material isn't video?
@FXx: See the thing is the TV companies are putting all the next gen tech in 8k systems and leaving behind 4k so that they can push 8k more. Even if you don't use 8k the specs are better in 8k tvs.
We don't need 8k but unfortunately if you want latest in dimming zones contrast brightness game settings you have not much choice unless you go 4k oled.
Truth
Just wait for about 90 days and watch the price fall, typical cycle for a new Hisense product.
i am waiting for 65 u7g or u8g
I’m hoping some of the lower models have android.
I'm waiting for something worthwhile to watch on TV
Fun question -
How are people using these?
Is there any content provider that supports these resolutions…? O.oJust YouTube promo videos. Watch them on rerun to get max value from the TV.
Gaming! You'll probably need a 3090 tho, and even then I wouldn't expect high frame rates!
Anyone with enough money to buy a 3090 isn't wasting it on TVs with sub-par performance.
Haha, true that!
Anyone buying an RTX 3090 at current prices for any reason other than work probably isnt smart with money in the first place, so I dont see the correlation lol
@Vinodra: Also true haha.
The use case nowadays will be to upscale content to 8k. Which means that the justification for the TV is whether it can provide a better picture upscaling 1080/4k (let's forget SD) to 8k, than native 4k or 1080 to 4k on a 4k set. Only your eyes can decide that.
Or, if you live in Japan, you can watch the Olympics in 8k. If they go ahead, that is. And are worth watching in the first place.
But what about the Linsar for $999?
Honestly speaking I FOUND CLICK FRENZY A BULSH*T it was utter rubbish no notification came to me, keeps asking for payment proof, for some weirdo frenzy bucks,
NEVER GOING BACK TO THAT SH*T piece of CRAP WEBSITE. Taking our information only for free
Would rather a decent LG 77 4k OLED for that sort of money
Resolution is an easier sell for the JBHiFi schleps.
The U8G is very good, but I can't find any proper and credible results for this U80G television sadly :( And calling up Hisense I got some Australian chick in tech support who had no idea how to answer some of my basic questions about contrast and colour.
16 upvotes. Has anyone bought one yet?
One? nah.
Three? yessir.Lol
Me to. How could you turn away a free $1500 in gift cards?
I'm using them as a triple monitor setup.
An absolute steal :P
