Earn Velocity Points on Eligible Purchases @ 7-Eleven

180

Just got an email about 7-Eleven partnering with the Velocity frequent flyer program (Virgin Australia):

How it works
From Thursday 27 May, Velocity members will be able to earn Velocity Points on eligible purchases* at 7-Eleven stores around the country including food, drinks and fuel.

Customers will be able to link their Velocity account through the My 7-Eleven app and earn Velocity Points on eligible purchases* by scanning their My Card within the app at checkout.

Customers in WA will also be able to earn Velocity Points by scanning their physical Velocity membership card or My Velocity Digital Card at the counter when they make an eligible purchase* (available in Eastern states later in the year).

Edit: You still earn Velocity points when using the fuel price lock.

You cannot earn Velocity Points on the following product categories at 7-Eleven - tobacco and tobacco related products (including but not limited to lighters); mobile prepaid/recharge phone and sim cards; parcel delivery and collect services including ParcelMate parcels and related services; gift cards; travel cards; MoneyGram; vouchers; trailer, lawn mower and car hire; coin operated car vacuum; prepaid tickets: transport tickets (Myki, Opal, Go Card); and any other products which are not legally eligible for Velocity Points as prohibited by Law and other products and services as notified to members from time to time. Velocity Points cannot be earned on transactions paid with fuel vouchers/cards, any fleet cards, vouchers or Motorpass and any other excluded payment methods as updated from time to time.

You do get points from fuel, but not if you use fuel lock unfortunately.

        Fuel lock is a voucher?

        • It's a feature in the 7 Eleven app that allows you to lock in the cheapest fuel price from nearby 7 Eleven locations for a week, T&Cs here: https://www.7eleven.com.au/mobile/my-7-eleven-app-fuel-price…

          • @bauser99: My question is whether the fuel lock is considered a voucher, so you don't earn velocity points per the terms and conditions.

            • @kyle: You do not according to the O.P. comment above, guess we'll have to wait for full T&Cs to be sure!

payment is made by any accepted payment method including cash, most credit and debit cards issued by banks and mobile pay app, if available BUT excluding any payments made using 7-Eleven Fuel Pass, any fleet card, Motorpass, vouchers, redemption of free offers and any other excluded payment methods specified in these Terms and Conditions as updated from time to time.

I don't see where the Fuel Price lock is excluded? The exemptions seem to be based on payment method - you don't 'pay' for fuel with the Price Lock, so I am hoping it is fine.

          • @bauser99: 'Voucher' appears nowhere in the "Fuel Price Lock" T&Cs :)

            • @b3au: If you can't get a free coffee with fuel purchase with Fuel Lock don't think Fuel via Fuel Lock with give you points

              • @domo653q: Fuel Price Lock does give you the Velocity points. Confirmed :)

Prob works out better using fuel lock most of the times than velocity system.

  • Virgin keeps moving down market….especially considering the comments from their CEO earlier this week.
    No value placed on peple.

She's just stating the fact that deaths are inevitable once the borders are open.

People are just picking on her. I don't see the health chiefs getting such attention when saying the same thing.

What happened to the “link your card for 1000 velocity points” ?

  • Confirmed you earn velocity points even with fuel lock. Added my velocity to 7/11 app yesterday and locked in a price. Went and filled up got 51 points for the fuel and bonus 711 points in my velocity account today :)

  • $1 spent in-store on eligible products = 2 Velocity Points*
1 litre of Mobil regular fuel = 1 Velocity Point*
1 litre of Mobil premium fuel = 2 Velocity Points*

Guys, is it worth going from U91 to prem U95 for the extra point?
