Hi there, I have 10 double hung aluminium windows with varying degrees of degradation of the window spring balance tubes. I've looked at how to DIY repair them but thinking a professional might be the better route. Any idea on cost and/or recommendations in Sydney's west for a quote? Is it the sort of thing to put on Airtasker (I've not had much luck with Airtasker in the past)? Thanks.

I bought replacement springs from ebay, DIY'ed a tool using a wire hangar. wasn't too bad to replace.
Depends on brand of window. Quite frequently its just a lug from the spring retainer jumped out. Easy to re-locate when you've pulled the whole window which only requires a few screws removed.
I have several double, double-hung windows to deal with and that's a fair hand-full to hang on to, because both windows ie. 4 springs, have to be juggled together, so really needs two people to handle. Not difficult, just steady and a good mate to help.
Check out bunnies for the price of the replacement springs and then triple their price and then labour which will be $100 call out plus $75 to $100 per hour and expect about 1/2 hour per spring to replace just in case.
