Been looking for a TV but couldnt decide so got me a projector instead.

Ships from Hong Kong express by courier signature required upon delivery, it took less than a week. Its a global version (EU plug and comes with AU adapter)

Seems like a good price, i received mine a week ago and im very happy with it, throwing it on my wall, getting about 128 inches.

Built in android 9.0, Chromecast, netflix, wifi, bluetooth remote, build in very good speakers, full hd quality (4k support), small and portable.

  • I’ve had this(or the 1st gen Chinese version) for a few years now, it’s been working perfectly fine, very happy with it

  • How long is the shipping from these guys? Are they based in Australia? How reliable is this store?

Anyone bought with these guys can shed a light?

    • mine came within a week from hong kong, payment by paypal so no risk i guess.

  • is this the model which has Ads built into the projector?

    • +1

there are no ads if there were ads i would not recommend it

    • No ads in the international version I got.

  • +3

I have one of these for a year now (the international version running android tv). Just be aware of the focus issues due to the plastic lens on this. Basically after 15 mins of use the focus will need re-adjusting as the plastic lens heats up from the led light and causes the optical characteristics to change, this cannot be fixed without a re-design of the lens and move to using glass. If you re-focus after 15 minutes than it will stay in focus for the duration of use.

apart from that android tv and everything else works flawlessly and the bonus is that it doesn't stick out like a typical projector since it looks like a bluetooth speaker and just sorts of blends itself into your furnishings.

    • yeah ive read about the focus issues and was worried, but cant really notice anything happening with the focus over the duration of 3 hour sessions.

    • Any experience with running Kodi natively?

      • +3

ill install it tonight on the projector and ill let you know :)

        • MVP! If possible, can you try stream a 4k video? I'll most likely be watching in 1080p but 4k is a good test for the little unit

          • @jsediv: so ive installed it, but its all empty, what do i do, how do i add and where from lol sorry

      • +1

yep works flawlessly. i stream 1080p content to it from a nas over 2.4ghz wifi. no issues. 4k is not possible unless its heavily compressed mkv.

        • Awesome! Ill stick to 1080p :)
Heavily compressed 4k files with low bitrate would look worse than 1080p so ill give that a miss

    • Wow I had a pocket projector that used to do that. Never occurred to me that the lens was warping due to heat. I was so confused because I even duct taped the focusing ring thinking it was moving due to the fan

    • +1

I have this as well. Focus issue after turning on. Also ensure you have the projector in a dark environment, else you’ll have the screen washed out.
I started off with this XiaoMi as a test case for my home cinema build during COVID last yr.
Just recently I upgraded to a refurbished Epson 4K projector from Epson's website for $1.5k. So much better!!

      • used for 1.5k vs brand new for 0.5k, thats a totally different class

        • "4k" projector vs 1080p… local Warranty vs no warranty; 3000lumens vs 500lumens; Totally different class I agree!
Refurbished Epson TW7100 that came was as brand new anyway :)

Like I said, I have this Xiaomi projector but it's causing lots of issues with the focusing. For a spare bedroom or kids room, it's ok.

@revivor: of course there is warranty

full hd is plenty enough for general use, i dont know what you are watching and where u get your content from but full hd is definitely enough for basic use

the link you sent is only full hd, so you think you ordered a refurb and you got a new one? congratulations on beeing so naive

not to mention yours is twice the size and 3 times the weight

we are very happy with this projector, considering the price and the quality, its a bargain lol, absolutely no focus issues

3 times the price for a refurb! hand in your ozbargain badge sir

  • When I read 'portable' I was hoping for 12VDC so it could run from the caravan battery. 19V DC unfortunately

    • Just use a boost converter.

US$13.00 for 9-16V DC input to fixed 19V 10A output. You only need 5A but I doubled it in case the output rating is over exaggerated.
Or variable ones if you ever need to re-purpose it in future.

      • thanks for the suggestion.

I've got an inverter so could always use that, but would prefer 12V to avoid the conversion loss and need to pack the power supply.

        • The boost converter is essentially a DC power supply and replaces the AC power supply, so all you're packing is the projector and boost converter (tiny). Battery -> DC power supply -> projector.

This is as efficient as it gets. Xiaomi can easily offer a 12V version by having this built in, or have the internal one changed to accept wider input voltages.

    • There is a new black version with built-in battery

  • Main website says it comes with a Xiaomi Mi TV stick too.

Funny thing; I was looking at that same comparison yesterday and ended up choosing the same projector… from the same website… thanks to Jayce Ooi on youtube

    • Update: Just received shipping notification and the Xiaomi Mi TV Stick was added to the order

    • where does it say that?
      i didnt get it :(

      • On their homepage theres a banner in the middle showing the promo.
It didn't show in the order until i got my shipment confirmation

        • ok got it, i dont know what its for but i want it

          • @alwayspoor: Its similar to the Amazon Firestick. Turns a non-smart TV into a smart TV running Android.
Not sure why it's included with this as the projector already runs Android.

Ill be installing Kodi onto mine and use it as a portable media centre

  • Looks nice but a drawback is the lack of projector controlled screen size, the screen size is controlled by projector distance from the screen, which for a portable projector could be problematic depending on the space you want to use it in.

  • Any cheaper projector screen suggested (portable)? I have BlitzWolf BW-VP6

  • i don't see a price of $549 on that site? has the deal ended?

  • looks like price went back to $604.99 aud

  • demand went up so did the price, i guess thats how this system works

  • how about the fan noise.

I had one other brand projector, nice picture, but it is so loud.

    How loud is this one

    • according to the rating it has the lowest noise of them all

i put it right next to my bed less that 1 meter away, so i can hear it, its still ok, not quiet and also not unbearable

if you put it a bit further away it will be ok, preferably under the ceiling using a mount

  • Showing up as A$604.99 now.

    • +1

i have messaged them, hopefully they will fix soon

      • alas, still not fixed D:

        • +1

they are working on getting the price down, but with a free xiaomi stick promo its hard, please check back in a while

As for my opinion of owning one myself, I do not recommend this projector to anyone. If you do want one, please do your research on the issues before committing to one.

read his whining above and do not listen to his comment, this is not a genuine opinion and this person can not be trusted
