  • i guess anyone needs such a great lens knows very well about its spec. standard price overseas, probably BEST price in australia. if anyone who buys this lens will fly overseas in 30 days, TOO CHEAP :D

but i will wait for 24-70 VRII to match up my 70-200 VRII. sure, no one knows when Nikon will update this lens.

    • Will the VR11 be any different anyway? The 18-200 VRI & VRII had the same vr system, just a switch was added to stop creep.

      • according to Nikon and also numerous reviews, the answer is yes. vrii is apparently an upgrade on vri.

    • such a short focal lens VR is not that useful and camera is change so quickly that high iso is so acceptable.

      • More interested in better quality optics in an upgrade and considering this is a F2.8 agreed VR not so inportant, but handy.

        • agree. vr is not necessary on a short focal lens. however, i do feel vr on my 16-35 does help. also, you dont always use f2.8. on the other hand, weighing early 1kg. i really want vrii on this lens.

    • My next purchase will be the 70-200 VRIII :) to replace my Sigma 100-300 F4.
Next in the list will be the 105mm Macro lens.

  • Nice price, it's around $1700 imported (ie. before GST)

    • Is this a Australia supply at JB OR Grey Import. ????
I know they still retail at $1999 at JB and $2299 elsewhere

      • Well, JB had not informed me it is grey import and I assume it is not as I have bought this in their store. They had 6 in the city but none at Doncaster and so they are transfering the lens from the city store.

          and this.

Can't find JBHIFI mentioned on the Nikon website. Maybe someone else can.

So I'm guessing it is grey and your warranty will be with JB.

        • Your warranty card in the box will state Nikon Australia if it is local. Did you have to haggle much, this is just so cheap, particularly because US prices are higher

        • Not haggle at all as I already knew it was cheap. I have inform them that some one bought at $1650 and I am here to buy one today. The lady key in the computer and say the best she can do is $1680. I did not bother haggle it down another $30.

  • Camerapro selling for $1888-, inc GST and Nikon Australia warranty (although on lenses the warranty is international anyway) http://camerapro.net.au/nikon-2470mm-f28g-australian-stock-s…

CSG001:For the difference not sure I would take the chance of paying GST and taxes on grey import.

  • +1

JB HiFi are doing great deals on this lens at the moment and is not grey market. You can pickup this les for less than $1650, thats almost $600 below the price of the mainstream camera shops. Well done JB!!!
