Citroen C3 - How to Read The Solenoid Screw Size?

Hi All,

I am a newbie car DIY enthusiastic.

I just need some guidance in how to read the "Self Tap screw" size used to tighten the Exhaust solenoid on my Citroen. I have lost the screw.

The Part number of the screw is 6923C6 with the dimensions as DIAM 6X100-16.

I was planning to buy something from a local hardware store if someone can help me interpret the dimensions.

Thanks in advance.

  • looks like this

It appears to be a coarse thread so it will be
    M6 (6mm diameter)
pitch 1.0 (1m from 1 thread to the next). If it isn't 1.0 it will be 0.75.

Disregard the plain lead-in (that's the "self tapping" part to aid quick assembly). It looks like it's about 25mm long.

Maybe the “16” on the end refers to the length, ie: 16mm? It certainly doesn’t look 100mm Long.

The 100 could be the thread pitch in 100th's of a millimetre. See if the larger bolts have 125 or 150 to check.

        • Yeah, I'm guessing it was supposed to be 1.00.

I deal with bolts all day, and metric would usually be written out as; M6-1.0x16 (if I write it OP's way to my supplier, I would get a 6mm bolt, 100mm long with a ~1.5mm pitch)

The bolt OP is asking for, I would have about 20 or so like this in my tool box at work. Really common size for anything automotive.

Is this the first time in ozbargain history where a link has been made to a Kazakhstan website?

“Kazakhstan greatest country in the world, all other countries run by little girls.”

Being a French shitbox, it would not surprise me if they used a propitiatory sized bolt only available from Peugeot.

If Bunnings don't have it then go to a bolt store. Should only be $2 or less.

Remove one of the other bolts. Match it up.

    • What is this logic you speak of?

    • Then there will be 2 lost bolts.

  • just take a screw with you to bunnings, compare side by side
