Hi
I am about to take a long flight with the kids, and am looking for something cheap for them to watch a film when they inevitably get bored. I've looked into the portable DVD players but they seem to all last about 2 hours so arent much good for a 14 hour flight. I've also looked into the cheap tablets so they can watch AVIs, but these too seem to only last a couple of hours (obviously the more expensive ones have better batteries, but it will probably never get used again).
I know that nothing is going to last the whole flight, but am looking for something that will let them watch a couple of films for 4 hours or so. Regardless of whether its a portable DVD or cheap tablet/video player, its not something we would use much so don't want to spend too much on it.
Any suggestions for a player/screen which would last more than a couple of hours?
Thanks
I haven't flown for a while but I was under the impression some airlines offered DC power outlets in the armrest for passengers to use for their devices. You might want to check with the airline. If they do, they might provide a power cord or you may be able to buy one before you go, e.g. http://www.jaycar.com.au/productView.asp?ID=MP3469&keywords=…. This one would be suitable for a cheap car headrest DVD player that has a cigarette lighter power option. I was thinking to try Big W or JB HiFi for a cheap portable DVD player, but the adaptor would also be suitable for an iPod/tablet/phone type device with a car charger lead.
