    X is for Xanthorrhoea

How many people had to Google that…?!

    • +2

Well if you click on it and read the page, you don’t have to Google it 😂

X is for Xanthorrhoea – part of more than 60 grass trees endemic to Australia.

      • Well if you click on it and read the page, you don’t have to Google it

Lol I know, same same… who had to click on it to see? :P

        • Evolution of Clickbait :D

    • I've got hundreds of these at my place..

    • Part of my job is to do flora surveys, I’d be in trouble if I didn’t know what it was.

    • -1

      you mean Xenophobia?

    • X is for Xanthorrhoea

You can get a cream that will clear that up.

  • Are they going to be released into general circulation? It is more fun trying to find stuff like this in the wild

    • +1

Last year, they were also entered into circulation via Australia Post change and eventually into the general circulation.

        Oh I haven't seen a single one!!

I need to start using cash more lol.

        • +1

thats the problem, dont use cash much
prolly just need to buy the set

        • +1

I coincidentally came across my first coin from the 2019 collection earlier this evening (K for Kangaroo). I got it from an abandoned shopping trolley.

I don’t pay anything for cash these days unless it’s Gumtree or the shopping centre car park fee, so the chance of me coming across these coins are basically zero…

@WookieMonster: yeah 47 bucks for the set, 26 coins, 7 dollars for the album, 14 bucks for saving time effort… kinda worth it

    • +2

      Gotta catch ‘em all!

  • +1

So if you get one of these in your change, it is worth $1
If you buy them from Aust Post, you pay $3?

      Welcome the world of numismatics.

My guess is that the coins you get in your change from Australia Post are circulated, plus you have no way of asking Australia Post which coin you want (unless you specifically ask the cashier and they happen to have that coin available, I guess).

However, the coins you buy direct from Australia Post are uncirculated, so they are of higher quality, plus you get to choose which coin you want to purchase, and you get a sick display folder or sleeve! This is also a way for Australia Post (and probably to a lesser extent, the Royal Australian Mint) to make money off this promotion, so of course they will charge you extra if you go down this route. Someone has to pay for Cartier watches…

  • Bought the whole set lol. I did the same with the previous coin hunt. I still don't know if my 'A' from the previous coin hunt has that mail imprint.

  • And the scalpers are prolific on eBay making multiple sales at highly inflated prices. Really don't understand why so many people get sucked in

  • If its not z for zooper dooper I don't want to know about it

    • +1

'Z was Zooper Dooper' for the first Coin Hunt

  • X = Unknown.

As in AP don't know why a package took a week to travel 10kms, or why mail posted a 3 hour drive away over a month ago hasn't turned up yet.

  • Slightly off topic. I have about $160 worth of those $2 coins that have different colours in the middle (have been collecting them and keeping them for several years now). I saw the owner of my local fish & chips shop putting them aside years ago, so I was wondering if they have any value above $2?

    • $2 purple one was more valuable years ago . Check ebay for current value.

  • interesting, while I know its about ionic Aussie stuff, nobbys nuts are owned by Americans (pepsico) and most of the nuts come from overseas,

  • So are these A-Z coins the code words that are referenced in the treasure map? Or are there other code words?

  • +2

Somewhat related, does anyone have the codewords required for this competition? https://auspost.com.au/content/dam/auspost_corp/media/docume…

    • I have the same question!

      • Word 2 is on the receipt if you buy something. It's "Aussie". Code word 1 was in the newspaper, but haven't found it

    • If anyone has the codeword from any Sunday Times from May (or still has one laying around) would appreciate you messaging me… or letting us know.

  • Has anyone found out the second code word? I haven’t been able to find it in the paper.

    • also need this code word, can't find it anywhere, really appreciate if someone could share?
