I am looking for a home phone service provider that included call to 13 and 1300 numbers as part of its cap.
My folks have a home secuirty that is monitored via the 1300 number, need to find them a phone provider that doesnt charge 30c for every 1300 call.
Would it be worthwhile asking if the home security service has a local number that they can contact?
Couldn't help with finding the correct plan but can share my experience. I had the same issue when setting up security monitoring at my home and I couldn't find any caps that included calls to 1300 nos. In the end, I asked my security company to only do the test calls once a week. So every month I would only pay $1.20 or $1.50 on top of my plan, which isn't expensive at all.
How many calls does the system at your folks house make? And yes, I checked with the installers and they said since its a auto-monitored line, they can't really have a local no and it has to be a 1300 no.
yeah only call 1300 number and does it daily.
Those 13 numbers have become a real money-spinner for the carriers. They're supposed to be for the cost of a local call. Maybe it's time the ombudsman was asked to look into it.

I m in a same situation as ur folks. If I remember correctly TPG plans include calls to 1300/13 Numbers. However doesn't support monitored alarm.
Check with Lotus plans though.
