Business Laptop Suggestions - Excel/Photoshop Capabilities (Budget $1.1k Max)

Hi there,

I am looking to get a laptop to run my ecommerce business on the go, such as during train rides to my FT job and stuff like that.

Doesn't need any gaming capabilities, but I want it to be speedy when it comes to having multiple programs open such as emails/spreadsheets and the ability to use photoshop.

Was thinking probably a 16GB Ram, but open to hearing opinions on if an 8GB will do the job. Or even getting an 8GB with upgradeable RAM for the future.

Will occasionally use it to watch YouTube/Netflix so wouldn't mind a semi-decent screen around 14-15inch will do, or bigger of possible.

Price point is around $800 but it is flexible if there's a good deal for something around $1000-$1100

      i'd personally try to stretch to the 15- 5501 for slightly better external build quality (less plastic)

        I'll take a look, cheers, and i'd assume that the refurbished stuff is as good quality as a new laptop? or what downside is there to refurbished?

      ah true my bad - its about 1339 at cheapest with discounts.

      if you can stretch your budget, it would help heaps. they're amazing (typing this on one) and should last a good 5 years or so..

  If you are looking into spending around $800, a second hand ultrabook such as MacBook Pro or XPS or Carbon X1 may be your best bet.
  If you are only doing basic photo editing and not dealing with large number of layers or lightroom, it is unlikely you can feel the big difference between 8 & 16 GB ram.
  13-14" would to be the sweet spot for a machine you commute with, once you go above 14.1", things tend to get a little heavy.
