  • Is this worth an upgrade from the R5 3600? Running it with a 3070

      For gaming? No.
For productivity? Not really. Your 3600 is still a highly capable CPU.

Yeah im in the same boat with a 2600x fantastic cpus however to sell and upgrade just isn't worth it

        • 1600x with 1080ti here. thinking of 3300x

@Rocinante: 3600 is ubiquitous in new and pre-owned for only few dollars more than the 3300x, and seems to beat it by a few frames on games. Also, likely better for general use with more cores. Upgrade with resale of your 1600x could be like $160 maybe… probably decent value for 20-30% CPU improvement.

Same for me. I (personally) wouldn't upgrade any Zen+, first gen I'd probably upgrade BIOS and stick a 3600 in but really that'd be it in the current market.

With current CPU prices and GPU availability, my 2700x GTX1080 system is going to run long into the night.

https://cpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/AMD-Ryzen-5-5600X-vs-A… Not much improvement over much cheaper 3 3300x alternative for most use cases.

Either would suit most people, 6 cores better for compute intensive workflows depending on your software.

There's a reason why links to that site have been banned from virtually every PC enthusiast forum, aside from their blatant Intel bias.

Here is an alternative benchmarking site.

      25% higher single-threaded performance over the 3300X.
      90% higher multi-threaded performance over the 3300X.

There's no denying the budget-friendliness of the 3300X, but I would still choose the 3600 over it.
