[eBay Plus] Nikon Z5 Body $1,608.85 Delivered ($1258.85 after Nikon Cashback) @ Ryda eBay

Ryda jacked up their eBay prices last week, now I know why.
However, with combined eBay discount and Nikon cashback, this is currently the lowest price.
As usual, use discount eBay GCs for more savings (Swap GCs via Shopback app), net cost ~$1183
Cashback claim at Nikon is more certain than Sony in my experience (still waiting for Sony cash back from November last year).

It has fairly good reviews like this

  • FYI reviews say good for stills but video is lacking…Nikon addressed these shortcomings on the Z6 II and Z7 II along with a bigger price.

  • Probably not the place to ask this, but I'm hoping someone here knows.
I want to buy an item from ebay that is in china. Its a camera body that is over $1000 (its $1200) so it'll have duties and gst when it arrives, is there anyway to avoid theses costs?
I read somewhere that you dont have to pay it for stuff you used gift cards for. So if I pay it entirely with gift cards, will I not have to pay any duties/gst on it?
Also can you combine afterpay and ebay giftcards for a purchase?

    • Also, yes I know warranty on grey imports is TRASH, but I'll be eventually converting the camera to full spectrum so the warranty will be voided regardless.

    • So if I pay it entirely with gift cards, will I not have to pay any duties/gst on it?

Are you kidding that is a myth .

Custom side is like a gamble sometimes it gets hits , others times it sneaks through .

      • Yeah thats what I was unsure of because in some ozb forum threads I saw were saying that giftcard payments = not duties.

I guess I'll just save up and pay for one in Australia as the camera cost+duties is basically the same price as local one.

    • You have to pay duty and broker fee on the declared value of the goods, even if sent as a free gift. It is hit and miss, depending on what value the shipper put down. Happened to me once, ended up costing more than buying in Oz as the fees totalled around 15% on the declared value!

      • Ah well, I wont risk it then. I'll save up a few hundred more to buy aus stock.
I appreciate the info. Crazy how much we get taxed!

        • Nowadays I find buying camera gear locally is cheaper with combined store promos and cashbacks, and get the Aust warranty too…

  • Anyone know how to get the FTZ mount at a reasonable price? Best I can find is 300 dollars grey import!

    • Currently Nikon runs a promotion:buy Z50, Z6 etc claim a free FTZ. Unfortunately, Z5 is not included

    • Late 2019, they were low $100 (Made in Thailand). Prices then shot up but I'm not too sure why? Back to Made in Japan?

  • +1

OP, you are spot on about Nikon's cashback process. I put in the application via Nikon's website yesterday morning, received confirmation email 4 hours later that my claim has been accepted and got the $350 cashback in my bank account today!
