Question about This Intersection at Kirkland Road Tivendale NT

Poor paint drawing

Google maps (not sure if the street view is accurate, but sat view is)

Going off the paint drawing because it's clearer, the first red line is a set of traffic lights before a railway line (fairly certain there are also the standard railway lights), second is just after for the intersection. The first set of lights don't seem to be very visible from where you have to stop (can sorta peek at them, but they're hard to see).

What would you do if in the middle lane turning right if the first set is red but the second set goes green? I figure you've just gotta wait for the first set to go green as well, but light positioning has me a little confused.

Sorry if this isn't super clear, this is the only intersection like this I run into so want to make sure it's clear to avoid doing anything daft.

    From the excellent paint drawing I can tell your on the southern side of the intersection heading north.

    If it was in NSW (I doubt this would be different in NT) you are correct. Need to wait for those first lights at the rail crossing to go green, even if the barriers aren't down. Then you can progress to the 2nd intersection and either go through to 2nd set of lights and wait to turn right.

    I'd try being slightly further back when stopping. There are 2 sets of lights, although the one for the lane you're in is pretty low. Would be a hard game to play to make sure you're on the pressure plate to let the lights know you're there, (assuming its got one), but probably worth it, seems like you'd have some room to play with if you stopped 1m earlier so you can see the lights easier.

    Edit: I assume trying to explain why you did something that obviously seems wrong to a cop also works the same in the NT. 'Yes officer, I saw that light was red, but the one up ahead was green and I wanted to go through that one'

      Nah to that edit though (if a copper had got me I wouldn't need to ask here :P), just confused me a fair bit so wanted to make sure I don't make that mistake.

    I don't know what road is what? What road are you turning from and into? (I'm guessing from Wishart into Kirkland??)

    What lights are you referring to? These ones? (pretty self explanatory lights) or these ones?? (They are not for you…) I cannot find the "1st and 2nd set" that you are referring to.

      Pretty confident the street view is out of date, and sat view is pretty unclear. Not that you're wrong, my paint skills are terrible, I was more just saying the other two were worse then my paint was good.

        You got the answer you wanted to hear or the correct answer? How anyone can make a correct call based on that diagram and out of date street view is beyond me.

      Pretty sure they’re referring to the set of lights with the boat crossing the train line.

      In which case OP has to stop at both.
