Able to help a brother out with choosing the right kind of ring for this particular equipment?

  • Is Nikon mirrorless an expensive lens family to get into, compared to Canon or Sony?

    • +2

      In general, yes.

Nikon also have a very limited lens range compared to Sony and Canon. Third party lens companies such as Sigma and Tamron release lenses on Sony and Canon, which makes it more affordable.

Nikon have great lenses and their cameras have great colour science, but unfortunately lens range limitations.

      • Looks like there are f mount adapters as well though?(that allow you to also use s mount lenses in compatibility mode?)

        • +1

          Yes for sure.

There's a slight compromise with adapted lenses, such as slower/no auto focus and less sharp images.

I wouldn't recommend this option if you're planning of fast paced photo/video (eg. sports).

Each lens also behaves differently with compatibility, so I suggest searching forums for other user experiences and also if the lens has had any firmware updates to improve adaption.

  • This is actually an insane price considering it's the same price as the z50 kit. I had the chance to try it out last year and this plus the 50mm 1.8s was a phenomenal combo.

  • i have a canon 7dm2, should i get this or stay with canon?
