Are they the same product? This one is a RMx where as the one in your link is a RM?

      • +1

rm850x uses Japanese capacitors which are more reliable than whatever is in the rm850 but they are basically the same. Two extra sata cables in one?? I had a 2015 rm850 (unsure what sort of which of caps was used then) which was replaced under warranty (loud pops on start) at 4.9 of it's 5 year warranty. I have a rm850x now. (no extra warranty sadly)

      • rmx line ended in 2018 I believe, they continued with the RM line as it stands. Honestly with a 10 year warranty I dont really care what capacitors they use or which fan. As long as they cover the warranty.

        • +3

No rmx line did not end in 2018. It is just that there is now a newer revision which supports modern standby. Generally rmx is better, but rm has support for modern standby.

It's unclear why we still haven't seen the newer rmx revision here. So, between rmx (2018) and rm is basically whether you want to go for the common sense - get the PSU with better components or future proof on modern standby, which doesn't quite make sense for desktops, especially if you are going for 850W PSU. You go for 850W PSU and care a lot about standby usage at low power level (not to mention, suspend to disk/ssd saves more power than modern standby still). Laptops, I can understand why you might want that. Also, are you willing to go Intel with supported hardware for modern standby?

          • @netsurfer: It was refreshing to read a detailed comment that IMO was spot on.

(EDIT: Me ranting below, needed to get it off my chest, feel free to stop reading here)
I tried to go above and beyond with links, quotes, facts and model numbers in a recent previous post of the rm750 one, and primarily what I got a couple of people trying to remind me that I forgot to mention pieces of information that were clearly listed in my post, as well as a moron trying to tell me I was completely wrong based on something he read recently which he forget what it was, likely one of the new 2021 reviews which were all over the web, as well as saying a corsair support operator said the modern standby feature had been a permanent feature on the rm/rmx series, because we all know how smart most operators are with their product, there's only so many times you can be referred from department to department before finally getting a "specialist" who can actually speak words that aren't coming straight out of a handbook.

    • This is delicious… To bad I don't know anyone who would need such a PSU anytime soon.

      • This is true. I only had a 850W in 2015 for multi GPU fun. Who even does that now?

        • +1

Probably people aiming for an RTX 3090 or something hangry like that?

  • I paid $190 last month, best price so far

I bought a Gigabyte 850 for the same price yesterday!!! Darn!

  • Anyone manage to get the 20% discount to apply on these Corsair PSU as per the current deal on Shopping Express front page banner ?

Same deal on Motherboards store wide and this code gets automatically applied at checkout for further 20% off marked prices - STRWD_MOBO_20 STRWD_MOBO_20
Also same deal on NZXT coolers which has this code automatically applied at checkout for further 20% off marked prices - NZXT_FS NZXT_FS
Note adding the codes manually doesn't work.

    • I didn't look very long. As far as I can tell, the 20% discount on the corsair PSU's is already applied?

      • That's what I'm not sure about, as both the other current 20% off deals automatically discount another 20% from the listed prices as checkout.
NZXT deal is worded the same as the Corsair deal.

        • +1

The 20% off must already be applied for the PSUs. $155 is obviously already an excellent price, a further 20% off that would be price error territory.

          • @MiscOzB: Yep looks like it, cached version of PSU posted shows $194 on the 30th April.

welp time to claim price protection again :)

    love new product roll outs

    • I have a Commbank Gold Mastercard which I swear included price protection when I originally got it. I see no evidence of Commbank still supporting price protection for this level of card, but I'll give it a try!

I just bought one of these PSUs for $204 from Harris Tech on Ebay a few days ago. Never tried claiming price protection before but this seems like a worthwhile case.

I have the 28 degrees card and already close to my 5000 per year claim limit :D (about 100-200 to go)

        cant wait for next year.

        • I'm miring bro. Way to get dat value!

        • At that rate you won't have many years left

  • Good price! With the delivery, it is almost same price as earlier deal by Centre Com.

  • Worth returning the Rmx750 I got for $126 on the last deal and getting this one? I haven't opened the box yet!

    • +1

Guessing you don't need the extra 100w or you would not have bothered with the 750w, so no i think you already got the best bargain.

  • Looks like the earlier centrecom deal was better? That was the V2, also it was cheaper once shipping is included?

    • +1

      The "V2" came out in 2018. I believe this is a V2

    • They're the same PSU. Also price after shipping is almost exactly the same (~$169).

      • Ah awesome. Then this one is just as good a deal (very good), just a couple cents more expensive
