Common law overrides the T&Cs. If item is not fit for purpose the place of purchase must deal with your problem or face hefty fines.
But then they can argue that you are buying it from "Big W Online" not "Big W Bricks & Mortar", therefore you must send it in to get it fixed.
Think you'll find it's not the common law but found in the statutory Trade Practices Act
It's actually the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (this replaced the Trade Practices Act).
When returning via post it will be reply paid.
It will not cost you anything other than time wasted.
Was going to post this, but I spent the time to read the reviews and they are extremely poor.
The build quality is terrible. Maybe ok for one Australia Day but I think this ones a miss.
+ these chairs are normally around this price in store when a sale is on.I have 3 of these and they got plenty of use over Christmas - mainly by older kids, but also me (90kg) - with no problem. For the price I was really happy.
I've been looking for some cheap chair exactly like this to dump into the back of the car and leave there only for those rare occaisions.
I got these last time from Big W and the tube ends end up coming through the material . Probably lasted a season before becoming landfill . Time to buy more .
brought these last time
they are great
Where did you bring them?
Spend an extra 30 bucks and buy something that will last for 10 years and stop contributing to landfill with crap like this, can't neg on an environmental basis, but want to.
I like that idea, but where would I get a quality camping chair? I fear that some of the $35 chairs on the market won't be any better quality than this one.
Is there a good brand that I should be looking out for?
I have a few different ones, but I have found the Wild Country ones from Rays are fantastic and don't break on every outing. The 'murray' one I have, similar to the franklin, has seen many camping days with some big dirt bike riding blokes not using it gently and its still going strong!
One like this would be a much better alternative if you don't want to end up having an uncomfortable POS chair that breaks on first use;

I've got 6 of these from the previous $5 delivered deal.
Moved into a new how recently and had to use them as seating for a few weeks (being a bargain hunter I was looking for good prices on good chairs :P). They worked just fine. They're not comfortable, and I'm sure if you put a lot of pressure on them they probably would break. But they lasted around 3 weeks of being used as regular chairs for people ranging 50-110kg without trouble.
Since they seem "not so comfy"
For $5 it is probably worth getting a couple to offer "friends who stay too long" something to sit on. :)Funny guy with great idea. I might just buy a couple now.
Disposable chairs.
Poor environment… :(
Spend that little bit more and get a much better chair that will last. $14 can get you a pretty decent one with more padding.
Only thing is they don't have metal rings around where the seat meets the metal base. They are probably still great chairs but they may break easily. I have had chairs like these and over time they have ripped until they broke.
Great price and probably pretty good quality chairs!bought 2 the last time, one broke after 2 uses and the other is still OK.
great chair just chuck in the fire at the end
damn i just bought a couple before reading these comments.
they sound like a waste of space now.. oh wellThanks i just bought four. They will make some nice fishing chairs and if they do break i can just throw it in the sea.
feel sad for the fishes in the sea
that's just a dumb thing to say.
Obviously that was a joke…
Sweet deal! These chairs are actually not bad, like a hammock for your ass. Though, they do break quite easily.
Was just in BigW coincidentally, and had a look/sit. I am very sorry if you bought one. :)
out of stock
50% of them broke when they were trying to put them in a postpack!
Got 2 last time…. no dramas here and I'm a fat arse ;).
Not the most comfortable chairs you'll ever sit on, but for $5 delivered you wont find a better chair.
And if it breaks in 6 months, just buy some more :)."And if it breaks in 6 months, just buy some more :)."
This is why the world is screwed.
And how is our world screwed
"This is why the world is screwed."
Wow man…. that's deep.
just went to kmart and they $5 in camping
ummm….. above price is delivered dude.
ask the shmuck in the camping section if he can ship to your door for free ;).
The $5 kmart chair doesn't have a cup holder
awesome for lining up for product launches…
iPad 3…. (droll)
These are really nice. I have one in my room for when I'm playing playstation or watching a movie. Very comfortable
I bought this chair the last time it was 5$ p/chair, only problem was that I started using it 2 weeks ago & noticed 1 chair's stitching was coming off (a lot), read T&C and it said u can't return it to a BigW counter but call a number to get further instructions but honestly for 5 bux not even worth returning/paying postage to get it returned :( if it was pick up or instore I would probably check it b4 getting it. otherwise this is a cheap price for a delivered item.
