Only 4gb pink left sorry.
:(
Having used these they're pretty nice. Compact and the screen is ok.
Hate the plastic trim along the spine though, feels like it wants to pop off.
hmm tempting…i'm still contemplating a window machine or a macbook air with M1 chip…still have the $500 JB gc to use
If you don't need any windows-specific programs than the M1 macbook air is a great deal that is hard to beat considering the quality and performance to price ratio.
It is nice, but $500+ more isn't small change
It is worth it if you are wanting more and willing to pay for it though
with JB current offer 10% off mac - $500 gc = $850 for the macbook air, the only thing I dont like about it is only has 2 usb c ports…1 for the charger and only leaving 1 left
@JepunK: In Apple’s eyes, you should be congratulating them for being “brave” and “progressive” on such a bold design move!
Why aren’t you happy???@Blue Cat: lol i'm not an apple fanboi, I just recently jumped on the apple bandwagon due to work insisting me to use macbook and i've taken liking towards macbook now…
If anyone is looking at taking advantage of the actually decent iGPU in these, I'd strongly recommend a 16gb model. You may possibly get by, but you'll need to close literally every other program to squeeze into 8gb while gaming.
Problem is the 16gb model is like $1600 which prices it among some really nice laptops
Do you have any quick examples of the other $1600 nice laptops? Keen to compare
You could get a Macbook Air 16gb, Dell XPS 13, Thinkpad X1 if you're lucky. Asus Zenbooks are nice too but I'm not up to date with them.
Are these the new and improved Intel integrated graphics?
Yes.
is the i7 worth the extra $100?
Imo nah.
JustJosh in a review said there's no point on most laptops, as without good cooling, the i7 eventually just throttles down to the i5 performance.
I wish I knew this before I bought my laptop, my i7 idles at 55-60 degrees
Yea, justjosh found out the hard way as well. He bench marked some XPS 13's with the i5 and i7 to show the performance issues.
I generally find notebookcheck has benchmarks that are reliable. In terms of raw $/flop, in pretty much all cases the mid-range chips are always better. The biggest difference in the i7 is the beefier iGPU. Up to you what $100 is worth, or if you want the better iGPU.

But as mentioned in another post, its best to have 16gb ram if you want to utilise the iGPU for gaming :)
'best to have 16gb ram if you want to utilise the iGPU for gaming'
which I don't so 8GB works just fine for me
but I already have this spec so hopefully don't need a replacement for the foreseeable …
Is the RAM in these upgradeable or soldered?
Like 95% of ultrabooks it's soldered yeah
No extra slot?
Nah
@Merlict: Damn - I would get it if the ram was upgradeable
Probably worth mentioning the screen is 300 nits 100% sRGB
Is that good?
Rather good for the price.
many sub $1000 notebooks are <=250 nits and 45% NTSC
never buy Dell pc, they are rubbish. i bought one last year from dell official website and it has hardware issue and they won't repair or refund. totally piece of lemon. avoid dell if you want to survive!
A year old laptop must be in warranty period? What happened when you filed a warranty claim?
is the delivery really by fist week of June ? in 4 weeks ?
I was looking for a 15 inches laptop, but the Inspiron 5502 doesn;t seems to have a 300 nits 100% sRGB'fist week' ? - I hope that doesn't hurt
I'm looking for a laptop for my Dad < $1K, his only requirement is to have a good display, and general snapiness. He spends most of the time on YouTube or watching movies on it. He doesn't want Chromebook as he's used to Windows (and I have taught him how to open up TeamViewer and give me access when something goes awry)
Is the $899 one a good option which can last him 5 or so years?
You don't really need a Core i7 to watch movies and browse the internet. The cheaper option is fine
Yeah, I meant the cheaper one, $899. How is the display though, is it a good one for the price range?
As long as the screen is Full HD andresolution and has an IPS panel, 90% of people don’t need anything better.
Do they have any 16GB black ones?
