  • I wonder what their price is like per kg. Thanks for posting.

    • i think about 9-11 bux

    • +2

This is not really a great bargain, just a standard special. The leg of lamb is is about $13.50/kg and they all weigh 3-4 kg's. You can quite often get leg of lamb for $9-10/kg from supermarkets on a standard special

  • In Adelaide Sunday Mail too

  • +3

Can buy legs of lamb for $7 a Kg in many discount butchers.

Only a big bargain for the lazy or those in small places….

  • My local woolies had this guy announcing specials on the mic. I think this $10 coupon was repeated 4 TIMES when i was getting oranges for Chinese New Year.

  • +5

I liked it just for the pun :P

    • +1

Yeah I think I'll have to leg it down the shops.

  • +1

No deal. Went and checked this out, my local woollies had 2-3kg legs from $38-$50. Coles had 1.5 kg legs for $20 odd, so did the butcher. Would have bought one of the small half legs woollies usually have, but these were mysteriously missing from display.

  • just went down, was approx $14 a kg and all the legs were ~3kg. Going to swing past tomorrow to see if they bring the normal stuff out late

I NEVER pay more than $8-9 kg for leg of lamb. Discount butchers are the way to go!

    • +2

Not worth a neg but fair comment, I do the same!

For Newy residents, Singo's or The Meat Shed FTW!!! :)

  • +2

Positive for the pun in the desc.

  • +4

I never buy meat unless it's marked down 66 per cent!!! Freezer is full of stuff i only paid a few dollars for!

    • -2

Your gamble. A trip to the hospital could cost more than the couple of dollars you saved.

      • +7

Then make sure you pass though aisle two so you can grab some aluminium foil for a hat. #paranoidmuch

      • -2

A true ozbargainer would take that risk.

      • What are you talking about? Are you saying the meat is off??? If so, you don't know what you're talking about!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • We normally get a 3kg leg so if they are around $30 each with $10 off thats around 30% off which = a bargain. Thanks OP:)

    • At 13.95 thats closer to $40 or $30 after the voucher - which is what you would normally pay.

  • Don't forget to check out your local Vietnamese/Chinese butcher if you have one! They have all the standard cuts of meat at discount prices every day.

  • dont waster your time looking for half legs.. apparently the voucher doesnt apply to these legs of lamb as per Terms and Conditions you get at the entrance to the store

  • Yikes, four left at my local Woolies - all over $40.

  • Went to 2 stores & no legs left. One store worker said it was a farce as they weren't told about the advertising. Not happy!

  • i went to 6 different stores over 2 days +one twice as they fobbed me off sunday saying they would have more in on monday…..all said they had no legs and wouldn't honour the voucher by giving 10 bucks off a butterflied leg or a mini roast.Congratulations on 25 year anniversary of safeway stiffing customers, what a great way to celebrate it!I would urge all those that have been stiffed and had their time wasted by safeway to go fill up a shopping trolly then abandon it in store and waste their time in return!!!…COLES HERE I COME! :^(

  • +1

GRRRR!! just been to coles and their leg o lamb is 14 bucks a kilo!!….got a kilo of green aussi prawns instead….who ever would have thought lamb would reach prawn prices???? :^\

  • So I too got suckered in by this deal.

as others have already stated its only if you can manage to grab a smaller one that it becomes worthwhile.

of course they only had 2-3 kilo ones yesterday which I would never need and at $14 per kilo, the more you buy the worse the offer becomes.

Anyway went to 3 stores today and they were all sold out. I was pretty pissed off as this whole offer stinks of switch and bait advertising which is strictly prohibited under the Trade Practices Act.

I think woolies has also worked this out as they have now extended the offer until 29th.

So hang on to those vouchers, you might need to head to woolies everyday until Sunday to get something close to a good deal out of this sham

  • Just for comparison I checked my freezer.

Got a 1.2kg Cleavers (organic) for $11.05 (40%) off from coles the other week

  • grrrr….just seen an advert on tv that theres a voucher for cheap steak in woolies tommoz…..they think we came down with last shower of hail in melbourne??? :^(

Supabarn in Canberra has their legs of Lamb on special for $7.99 this week!!! http://supabarn.indecat.com.au/?xml=canberra

      • Just picked up a 2.5kg leg at 50% off (approx. $10) which is expiring tomorrow. In the freezer now waiting for Thursday. It will be great!!!

  • +2

Offer extended ? In which case I better let you know the missus got one today , the macro organic one , which isn't part of the offer but as she pointed out it does not say that on the voucher , take that duopoly !!!

  • From Woolies facebook:
    Lamb leg coupon offer extended
Due to the overwhelming popularity of our $10 off lamb leg promotion, we’re happy to announce we’ve extended the offer and are accepting the coupons until this Sunday 29th January! Simply bring in your coupon from last Sunday’s or today’s newspaper, pick up a whole lamb leg and redeem it at the register. Enjoy the savings for your Australia Day celebrations!

  • lol, did anyone catch today tonight. people were upset over the availability of only 3-5kgs legs of lamb. woolies are promising smaller sizes

    • +1

I overheard two staff members whinging about the fiasco last night; apparently it's true they never got the heads-up in the stores about the special. These guys were understandably upset about getting seriously abused by irate customers over lack of stock!

Hope this isn't against company policy, but I'm a Meat Cabinet assistant at Woolworths and did the ordering for my store this week. We had NO IDEA of this special, and so we were just as horrified by the mess as the customers. Yes we had to take the brunt of the complaints and outrage by customers, but we had nothing to do with it. Unfortunately a very bad miscommunication between those on the floor and those in the ivory towers. Unfortunately, these specials are behind closed doors to keep Coles from copying the special, however it fails to work if the actual stores aren't able to put in the the order in anticipation of the demand because they didn't know. There will be another newspaper special this weekend, whcih I'm terrified about cause I have no idea what it is for!

Hope this clears this up. An yes, we'll have lamb legs and MV rump steak from Friday, so you can use the coupon until Sunday :)

I went into my local woolies last night after hearing about the extension until sunday of the $10 off leg of lamb offer, no stock available, so went to service desk and asked for a raincheck, which was given, I now have 4 weeks to redeem my voucher.

as a bonus, might be able to use it whilst they are on special ;)

    • Well played sir! :)

  • +1

Went today to redeem, BS, they said it was a 2 kg minimum. Where the hell is that on the t&c's. Not happy with the stunt they've pulled
