I have joined a new company and they provide me with $250 for mobile phone expenses. What is the best package I can use to utilize this amount? I was told there is a plan where you can get a phone with a tablet as well.
My only requirement is to have the best possible coverage and 5G if possible.

We have the $150/month version but with several grandfathered free SIMs. My work is effectively paying for a good chunk of 8 different SIMs.

Mind you, this works well for me because the number on the bill with the monthly fee has to be my number to claim it from work. So since the Business Connect Plan bills the fee to a single service, it works.
Is it mobile phone only or also supposed to cover home internet/NBN? If the later it's not as amazing as it sounds and your budget would be closer to $150pm.

Wow. That’s a decent benefit package. If you go to Telstra they can add a repayment for essentially anything they sell to your phone bill so could easily add an iPad or something cool like an Xbox to the account.
Check what other staff do with their $250 allowance. I'm sure you dont need to use it ASAP.
Maybe it's that high as it is meant to include something else other than a phone.
Maybe it'll be frowned upon to use all the allowance.
Or maybe they'll have better suggestions for how to use the allowance as they know the company better.

Yeah this, my company decided to give us $80/month allowance instead of a gym membership. I only signed up to a 12 month plan, and only $59/month, if I decide to leave I don't want to stuck paying for an expensive phone plan for too long.
