Private Internet Access VPN: 2 Years for $98.20 + 95% Cashback via Cashrewards @ Private Internet Access

200

Better deal than the NordVPN cashback offer, plus slightly cheaper.

I know most people on this site already have a VPN, but for those that don't this might be an offer to consider. Or just use a free one. That works too.

Note: You must purchase via Cashrewards 1 to be eligible for the cashback.

  1. Cashrewards Special Terms:
    • Cashback is eligible for new Private Internet customers only.
    • Cashback may be ineligible if using codes not listed on Cashrewards.
    • Cashback is calculated and paid on the advertised cost of the plan only. It will not include any GST, taxes, credit card or PayPal surcharges.
    • The amount that tracks to your Cashrewards account may differ to the paid amount due to international exchange rates. Your initial payment is converted to USD, then converted back to AUD when reported to us. The advertised cashback rate is based on the reported amount, not the paid amount. Cashrewards has no control over this process.

Can't tell if "Pirate" was a Freudian Slip or a joke here. Either way, I like it. Good price too!

    • @psnatch no just must of been dyslexic

    • I thought I was going crazy.

  • I’ve just bought a gl.net modem. Would I be able to use this to connect to some international streaming services?

  • Thanks!

  • Don't think there's been any controversy with PIA, probably as safe as anything?

Anyone know whether referral link stacks with this deal?

Read my post at bottom there both scammers

I'm letting my PIA account expire when it's time as I'm sick of being unable to stream any geo locked content such as Netflix and BBC iPlayer even though they promise that you can.

Speeds aren't fantastic either which means I actually never use it on my PC which is a shame as otherwise it's a quite good and very easy to use.

    • Yeah I was with PIA for 2 years. Speeds were excellent when you fist join, but then they slowly slow down to basically it would be faster to use dial up

I've been with PIA for the last 6 years or so, always renewing when they have 1 or 2 year promos like this, my current sub expires in October 2021 and I'm going to let it run out this time. There's nothing wrong at all with the service, but I'm chasing a provider with a server in Indonesia for various reasons.

I've tried asking PIA off and on but it just falls on deaf ears. Other than that, the client software is good and speeds have been super reliable for me.

have a look at Ivacy. not super quick, but they have Indo servers.

I grabbed a lifetime sub via stacksocial over 4yrs ago. it's one of my back up VPNs, when the BBC were targeting VPNs a fee years ago, they flew under the radar. Same with Ch10 here when I was OS a few years ago.
Their Split Tunnel allows you to select which phone apps use the VPN, handy if your Chromecasting BBC iview & also web surfing

        • Thanks, I was kinda hoping there would be a Nord deal come up again later this year, speed is kind of important because I'm going to be streaming some content over it. Will keep it in mind though if I can't find anything else.

    • +1

I agree speeds are definitely slower than they used to be, but I have no issues streaming geo locked content (YouTube and Netflix).

      • +1

No joy watching on a TV, PC yes. Same with BBC iPlayer so pointless.

I mean, honestly, who wants to spend hours watching a PC screen instead of relaxing on a nice couch in a loungeroom?

After about 8 years with PIA I'm ready to try surfshark or something similar.

  • Or just use a free one that works to

    works to where ?

    • See my edit to the deal 😉

  • Idk im no expert but these people find a use https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/602854

Ive been using PIA for about 5 years and I have no problem with it. Speed is excellent.
The only thing that may get me to change whenever my current subscription runs out is something that gets around the whole geo blocking issue. They aren't great at that.

  • Cashrewards says "Cashback is eligible for new Private Internet customers only". Does that mean if I buy this as an existing PIA customer to extend my subscription I won't be able to get the cashback?

    • +4

Just use a different e-mail address. The login and password are non-identifiable anyway.

  • Be careful with cashback from these guys, they randomly denied me, despite my following ALL the processes. Probably shouldn't be surprised, who can offer 95%cashback legitimately and stay in business…

    • Did the same thing with me with Shopback followed everything down to a Tee and still messed me around

    DO NOT USE THIS DEAL

They will not honor the cashback they are dodgy see comments below

They are hopeless with customer support i still have there "investigating cashback" from the last deal they refused to honor it (Shopback) not (Cashrewards)

    ALSO

Be aware if you do buy the deal another trick / scam PIA does is if you turn off auto renewal they count it as a "Cancelation" thus rendering you ineligble for the cashback makes no difference when you turn it off even if you have paid they will say you cancelled so wait until you receive the cashback to do this

    • +2

Dude thats shopback you referring to who are notoriously famous for not paying cashbacks then claiming they were glitches when get caught, leaked all private customer details and were in a big time racial advertising saga back in Singapore.

      • +2

I don't know who it was because they both pointed the finger at each other PIA Claimed they paid it / Shopback claimed that PIA refused to honor the cashback i can't conclusively prove who tried to scam me you may be right

Positive thing was PIA fully refunded me when requested seems unlikely they'd fully refund me if they had paid the cash back ? I'd personally avoid both

        • +4

But this is Cashrewards not Shopback!
Personally i have purchased this deal via CR and using it happily for last 2 years or so along with Surfshark. Both 0% issues

    – Cons
Convicted cryptocurrency criminal hired as the CTO of PIA
    Slow and inconsistent speeds
Based in the United States (bad privacy jurisdiction)
Does not work well for Netflix and streaming
Troubling history of the parent company (Kape)

    • +3

Not sure why you were downvoted for this, as these are all valid concerns for people considering PIA (although for me, speeds have been good). Have an upvote.

  • Would be interested to know if anyone has issues with cashrewards honoring the cashback if they do its safe to say that PIA is the 1 who is doing the dodgies the chances of both cashrewards and shopback scamming people from the same merchant is probably unlikely

  • +1

The link now says 70% off rather than 95%, anyone noticed?

    • Nope 😉 It said 95% when I just checked so I've unexpired the deal.

  • did anyone receive there cashbacks ?
