Sharing My Recent Bad Experience with Boost Mobile

I would like to share my recent experience with Boost mobile.

I was running low on data on my Boost 365 days mobile plan so, I decided to Add-on 1gb data for $5.

It was still showing me about over 150mb data on my plan plan when I recharge with add-on.

I was constantly checking for remaining data on my current plan and my add-on data topped up or not.

2 days after I added 1 GB add-on data, Suddenly my internet stopped working and just about 1 hour before I checked and it was still showing about 95mb data from my current plan.

I called Boost helpline to check why my add-on data still not added after 2 days of recharge.

The customer care officer said I have already used 800mb of data from that 1gb add-on and I have left only 200mb and she can add it manually on my plan.

I was totally disappointed as it was never added or shown on my boost mobile app and I was constantly checking many times everyday.

She said she can not do anything and I used 800mb in 2 days. While It took me to about 3weeks to use 500mb data from my current plan.

Very disappointed with Boost mobile.

So you don't belive you used 800mb in 2 days. You think Boost lied to you, cheated you and didnt add the extra 1GB you purchased?

    • They haven't added data until I called them and it was still showing data left from my previous plan before I used it and internet stopped working.

    Wow, that’s so melodramatic.

    • It's stopped working mean when I used my data from my previous plan as Boost didn't added data untill I called them…

Most phones have a feature to let you track how much data you have used. It won't be absolutely identical to what the telco thinks (depending what interval they measure data in) but it should be pretty close. It is worthwhile learning to use.

    Didn't even read your post.
Boost is more than fine for me.
I don't expect premium when I pay budget.

    • TLDR: Boost stole 1GB data from me.

Did you watch a short video on facebook or youtube on mobile data? That would do it.

    • I also do suspect something is not right with the phone rather than network provider. I couldn't help to wonder which 12 month plan OP bought. Like the 80GB one? Being low on data means the phone was downloading more than 6GB a month, far from the 0.5GB in 3 weeks. May OP thinks watching a video in Incognito mode is unmetered?

But OP post is alluding to the fact that 1GB wasn't showing up on Boost app/website, so it wasn't added and therefore how can it be used, isn't it? Doesn't matter what the phone was doing..

      • That's my point.

They haven't added any data as I was keep tracking my data due to running low on data and to check add-on data added or not .

I have the opposite experience. The Boost app does a great job of helping me track my data usage. It shows my bonus data separately from the plan data which can be a little confusing but honestly it’s not a big deal at all. Great prices and good signal. Would buy again.

    • I will buy again too as never had any issues with service in the past. Just sharing bad experience.

That’s unfortunately the way the world works. People love sharing their bad experiences but very rarely do good experiences get shared. The majority of their customers are happy and have no issues and don’t feel any need to write a comment to this effect on ozbargain.

  • Checking data uses data

  • There is usually a lag between the data amount shown on the website/app and the actual amount used, not just for Boost, but for many telcos.

It is not unusual to use up 1Gb of data in 2 days, if you've been streaming music or videos, or using Teams/Zoom etc.

The $5 for 1Gb add-on is a very bad deal. It is far cheaper to either renew the plan, or else port-out to some other telco.
