I got mine the other day too, gotta compliment these guys on their service, very good…fast turnaround & excellent communication.

No complaints about the quality of the product either, exactly as expected & pleasant enough (if somewhat bland) taste for all of the flavours we tried (Safari, Garlic, & BBQ)…though to be truthful, the 3 all kinda tasted the same. I think TonyP is spot on though, it is much less salty than Geronimo's, ergo definitely less soy sauce (& therefore sodium), so it might be a better option for some folks.

I shared some around with my mates today over a few beers, and to be honest it wasn't as well received as the Geronimo stuff by the gang overall…the universal comment seemed to be that we all like it drier & tougher, with more robust flavours, especially over a few coldies! The biltong wasn't a huge hit, we all thought it reminded us of the little crumbly offcuts from overcooked roast beef. We also unanimously disliked the way both the jerky & biltong is chopped up so finely, we all like to tear into jerky with our teeth & chew. In fairness, it couldn't have been too bad though coz all of what I took to my mate's place was devoured.

The big surprise was the drywors, we hit that like a bunch of hungry wolves…I should've gotten more than 200g!!!

I commend Jim's on a good product with great service & at a good price; however, I still find the tastes & texture of Geronimo is more to my liking so I'm not sure if I'll buy Jim's jerky or biltong again myself (drywors, different story), but I'd have no hesitation in recommending it to anyone who'd like a more subtle, softer product. :)

The whole biltong is very different to shredded and by reading your review i think you would actually like it. Your right the shredded is like the crumbles of roast beef. The whole ones are nothing like it. Its chewy and a mouthfull and lots of flavour while not just salty. I like the shredded but i love the whole they dont taste the same in any way

      • Thanks kwaker, that's really good to know! I will give a whole one a try in future then. I just opened my piri piri flavour biltong & it's not too bad at all, little bit of spice & flavour but not salty or overpowering…still the crumbly texture though. I think I know what flavour whole biltong to order! :)

        • haven't got anything yet which is surpring (i'm syd. metro)

i bought 1kg… they just give you an extra 500g of the same flavour?

          i'm cool with that
