it works on PC out of the box
just from personal experience, the fitting can be a hit or a miss with this one. i find the headset to be move forward and back on head alot easier with the new mechanism. previous design with manual adjustments it stayed better secured.
Great headset. Check the mic/volume balance. Without realising, mine was more on the mic side which lowered overall volume. I never use the mic so I didn’t take notice.
Looking forward to playing Returnal with 3D audio.
If you want a decent mic, skip this headset.
Good, comfortable design. Average battery life. Sound quality is the best feature. Mic is absolutely pathetic.

How'd you test the mic? Ask a friend to rate it, or record some playback? I haven't had issues in the past listening to people talking on the ps4 headsets.
The mic is in-line which makes it awful for voice chat, will make you sound like you're inside a box. Most sony PS headsets have had this issue in the past, and this one is no different. You can also record a clip with the share button on ps5 to test your mic audio.
Is the 3D Audio really a game changer? Was thinking of buying these, don't care about the mic really or using it anywhere else besides PS5.
Also keen to know this. Does it really have benefits over a decent paid of NC headphones? I don't use the mic so that's not a big deal for me
It isn't anything new, the ps4 platinum headset also have this feature, so does many other branded headsets.
But for the price and quality, I think this is the best option
You don't need this headset for 3d audio, that's a console feature
I like the functionality on the proprietary gear. Game/chat mix and when you turn them off, the audio amp kicks in, without having to get up and remove a usb. Audio could be fuller, but it's fine. Comfort is isolation is decent too.
