MEGAUPLOAD (Online File Service) PREMIUM Account - 55-60% Discount [Reseller MegaUploadVouchers]

Problem is the DOJ in the US just shut down megaupload alleging that they promote copyright infringement.

From the verge

The United States Justice Department filed charges against MegaUpload today, calling the file-sharing service an "international organized criminal enterprise allegedly responsible for massive worldwide online piracy." Founder Kim Dotcom and three MegaUpload executives were arrested today in Auckland, New Zealand at the request of the US government under provisional arrest warrants, and the DOJ describes three other execs as "at large."

The complaint alleges that MegaUpload, founder Kim Dotcom, and his team are responsible for $175 million in "criminal proceeds" and "more than half a billion dollars in harm to copyright owners." Specifically, Kim Dotcom and six of his executives are charged with running "the Mega conspiracy websites" under a business model expressly designed to promote uploading of the most popular copyrighted works." The complaint charges both the MegaUpload Limited company and a second company called Vestor Limited which Dotcom used to shield his personal assets. Specifically, the charges are:

engaging in a racketeering conspiracy
conspiring to commit copyright infringement
conspiring to commit money laundering
two substantive counts of criminal copyright infringement
The DOJ has also issued more than 20 search warrants in the US and eight other countries, seized more than $50m in assets in the US, Netherlands, and Canada, and seized more than 18 domain names associated with MegaUpload. The investigation was led by the FBI with broad international assistance from New Zealand, Hong Kong, the Netherlands, the UK, Germany, Canada, Australia, and the Philippines.

  • Damn. Always liked Megaupload but never bothered with a membership as this sort of this has been hovering over them for years. Its a shame but like all these cases, one site closes and 10 more open up.

  • I've never paid for a file sharing site like Megaupload — and haven't had a compelling reason to switch from Usenet — but I'm worried this might set a precedent for shutting down Usenet providers like Astraweb too.

Well damn. Just 1 day after websites started protesting against SOPA, the feds decided to nail the biggest file storage website.

edit: Looks like Anon is pissed today:

    • While I am sure the action was within US law on the issue, I too find the timing 'curious'.

  • I used RPNet. Access to several file share sites on fast speeds. Pretty decent most of the time except the last issue with fileserve.

    • Same here, I'm glad i resisted buying Megaupload premium. It's good that RPnet also offers refunds for their members.

Ah good! My credit card was used fraudulently to buy a $500 subscription to megaupload a few months ago. To the scammer who used it, Karma lol!!!

You don't make any sense at all. If someone used your card to buy a holden/ford, you would be happy that australian car industry be closed down?

Barking up the wrong tree much?

I feel sorry for SamFisher5986. He worshipped Megaupload. All his downloads were from this site. No doubt he is in mourning right now. Deepest condolences to SamFisher5986.

    • err what? Do you mean llama?

I was one of the people saying to use rpnet as I use it myself…

      I'm guessing this is a joke/flamebait :P

This just reinforces that there is no file host that exists that you can rely on.

If this keeps happening maybe usenet is the better service..

  • To be honest it was getting a bit silly with all these sites making money of people illegally downloading movies.

Anyone here using Filesonic and paying for premium? Bad news for you guys…

A few hours ago, Filesonic has disabled all their filesharing capability on their site — you can no longer download other people's files from FSO unless you know their password and login names — vice versa, nobody can download your uploads unless they login with your account.

“All sharing functionality on FileSonic is now disabled. Our service can only be used to upload and retrieve files that you have uploaded personally. If this file belongs to you, please login to download it directly from your file manager.”

Also, RPnet and Debrid won't generate premium links for FSO. Well and truly dead.

I think Fileserve and it's subsidiaries may also follow suit.

      Are you serious?

I can't check where I am, but if thats true there is only a few hosts left with decent files.

I'm not too worried, RPNet announced 6 new file hosts recently, the uploaders will just go elsewhere.

this is going to be a big change to how people share files. In the meantime, I guess people have to go back to sending information using encrypted USB drives by post. lol.

  • Fileserve is gone now too as an option, along with Filesonic.

  • Aww. mega,filesonic,serve gone. What's next?
    hotfile? wup?

  • Hotfile and a few others seem to be in the process of folding up shop now, too.

"Upload.to" and a few others are still going, but have barred any US-based IP address from their sites. That seems to have done the job for them so far, with the other sites just did the same too.

    • Aww man, FBI's scare campaign :(

  • MEGADOWNER.

I am sure nobody here would have paid megaupload account considering you can download everything there for free anyway, just slower.

    • It probably doesn't matter for casual downloaders who only go through a few download links a day, but for others the ability to use a download manager is the best feature of premium accounts.

I wonder if hosting such a server in Mexico would've protected them…
