Headphone Recommendations for Listening to Music/Podcasts on The Computer and on The Go. (Budget $250)

Hi all, just wondering if anyone has some recommendations for me.

I am looking to buy some headphones that can be used when I'm at my computer (wirelessly), as well as on the go (e.g. to listen to music and podcasts on public transport).

My only requirements are Bluetooth and decent sound. A mic isn't super necessary either.

Budget is preferably under $250 but willing to go a little over.

Audio Tecnica M50xBT is $189 at PC Case Gear and $199 at Scorptech at the moment.

Or Sony MX1000XM3 for around $300 or XM4 for around $350, consider the extra cost the price for noise cancelling.

    • Thanks for the reply, I guess the noise cancelling isn't too much of a worry so might go with the XM3.

Sorry, should've been clearer. Both the XM3 and XM4 have noise cancelling, I meant the extra ontop of your $250 budget to be for noise cancelling.

        • All good, my mistake. Checked them both out to confirm.

I like my Sony xm3s. Great noise cancellation, gestures on the cup are easy to use. I always use them to listen to podcasts on my occasional 1hr30 one way public transport commute. They are a previous gen now so you should be able to pick a pair up second hand or on clearance for a good price.

    • Thank you for the tip, seems like the Sony's are quite popular so I might look into buying the XM3's when they are on clearance.

      • There have been a lot of eBay Sony deals recently

Are you after over ear headphones or in ear ones?
    Big difference in portability etc

    • I guess over ear would probably be better to block out a bit of noise. Not too concerned with the portability as I usually have a fair bit of room in my backpack.

As everyone else said, the Sony XM3s or XM4s are a really good pair of headphones. The Bose QC35s are also a good option. You should be able to find them real cheap (sub $250) on Gumtree

    • I'll take a look at the QC35's as well, appreciate the input
