Excellent cameras. I've been using Xiaomi dashcams since the original 70mai and has never let me down.

I've been waiting for my first one to die so I can buy the a800 but it keeps living!

    • Are the 70mai dash cams made by Xiaomi?

      • +1

        Yep, they make good stuff

        • +1

Cool. I like Xiaomi, good quality and cheap prices

          • +1

@Wystri Warrick: They're not made by Xiaomi 😉

            • @Clear: Is 70mai a Xiaomi brand but it's manufactured by a third party?

              • +1

@Wystri Warrick: Nah 70mai are their own separate brand and company but they are a partner in the Xiaomi ecosystem. Much like how other brands are part of the Google Home and Apple Homelite ecosystem.

                • @Clear: Ah I see, thanks Clear!

                  • +2

@Wystri Warrick: Usually Xiaomi will invest in Chinese startup and have them release some products under the Mijia branding (making it Xiaomi) or they'll just buy a share of the company and let them release their own branded products.

Chinese sellers love to try and sell Xiaomi invested products as Xiaomi when they're not branded as such. For example Xiaomi's version of Kickstarter is called Youpin and AliExpress sellers get products from there and sell them off as Xiaomi. QCY often crowdfund there but they're not Xiaomi.

same im waiting for my OG 70mai dashcam to die out so i can justify buying this 4k one…already 5 summers gone in aussie heat and still alive and kicking.

      • Just sell it on Gumtree, Facebook and buy this!

  • Total noob here. How does this compare to the Viofo A129 Pro Duo 4K for ~ $275?

  • Is this a lithium or capacitor battery I cant seem to see the info anywhere.

    • +2

In the Dash Cam Talk review that op posted it says a 500mah lithium battery

    • +3

It's lithium. It isn't soldered and easily replaceable as it clips in Pic1 Pic2

    I’ll go for a hardwired A129 anytime.

    • +1

What makes you choose the A129 over this dash cam?

      • +2

I too am interested in your queries here but it seems no-one is willing to answer.

      • -2

A129's quality is very good, plus all the functions very handy.
Main benefit is you can hardwire the A129, have parking mode to record everything, lot lot longer than a battery operated dashcam.
70mai is a very good dashcam too, but personal I would go for a hardwired A129 everytime.

        • +1

but… you can hardwire the A800S as well. The hardwire kit is an optional extra you can buy for an extra $14AUD.

It has a parking mode to record everything as well, a lot lot longer than with just the internal battery.

So… why do you prefer the A129?

          • +3

@PeppaPigDidNthngWrng: The A129 pro duo has better video quality from both front and rear cameras, and better parking mode (uses motion sensing and impact detection rather than just impact detection).

I have been using the A129 duo - no plus or pro for a couple years now, it works well but for $115 less than the A129 pro duo I'm gonna give the A800s a go.

            • @Pacbough:

The A129 pro duo has better video quality from both front and rear cameras, and better parking mode (uses motion sensing and impact detection rather than just impact detection).

              That's really interesting, thanks!

It's actually enough for me to make me buy the A129 Pro Due, but I'm on a budget and it's only for my first car which is going to be a cheapo, so I'm going to jump on this deal.

  • I am trying to buy but getting $160.55 after coupon. Is price increased?
I have chosen last option A800S n Rear n Kit, ships from China and total cost - AU $172.02

    • You haven't applied either the US$10 promo code or the US$10 store coupon. Need to apply both to get price in title.

      • Subtotal
        AU $172.02
        Shipping
        AU $0.00
        tax
        AU $14.60
        Store Coupons
        -AU $13.04
        Total
        AU $173.59

After applying 70M4KBR152 code total is AU $160.55 but still not close to Op's price.

        • When I set currency to AU I'm getting a total of $145.99 see here
