They might be shy ? Or, maybe they live in Canberra ?
I do like that they posted an interesting item with a good discount.
Just give up
I'm your biggest fan
You can organise the Xmas party then… 🎄🎅
price in title pls
Got excited for a second thought wave might be at a good price. Already have 2 but thought might be good to get one for dad and father in law.
Leathermans warranty process is excellent.
I broke the micro screwdriver on my wave, I should test that warranty.
should be no issue. Thought Id get rejected as thought the damage wouldnt be covered under normal wear/tear warranty. NOPE. No fuss processing done within 2 weeks. Happily bought another spare Wave to have at home based on this service.
I had the same experience, 2 broken screwdrivers on my Super Tool 300 from minimal use, they replaced the entire unit free of charge, 2 weeks turn around.
Did you deal directly with Leatherman, or with the retailer?
@Tmonine: Direct
Yeah it shouldn't be an issue. Broke the screwdriver on my Wingman a few years ago and they sent me a whole new one, no questions asked.
Can confirm Leatherman Warranty is excellent.
Sent in 2 old/damaged leatherman and was sent a new (refurb) replacement.
Love my Wave+.
OP have a + on your deal just for luring a JV to comment….
FREE T4 for $100
What kind of free is that?
:PI'll show myself out…
username checks out!
Leatherman knows that products with 'free' in their name is a great advertising.
What I don't understand is how they were able to trademark the word 'Free'…
I dont feel this is really a convenient everyday carry. too much stuff. seriously, what percentage uses a nail file?
From Personal experience, id recommend Spiderco 2 dragonfly with zdp-189 blade.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/Spyderco-Dragonfly-2-Zdp-189-New-Br….
The reassurance and strength in your hand after 5 years in pocket and use, you know its something you could hand down to the next generation.
Japanese made. kinda hard to find.
I happily carry my Wave+ every day. Sure, I don't use the diamond file often, but there wouldn't be much difference in physical size to the knife you linked. It's probably a fair bit lighter, though. But I'm prepared to deal with that to have more tools at my disposal and especially a good pair of pliers.
Its all about the 34grams, 141mm length, 54mm blade.
not carrying a 223gram knife/tool + wallet + phone + keys + vape
That looks closer to a weapon than a utility knife, are they legal to carry?
Any knife that you can open with one hand is technically illegal to carry, at least in QLD.
Not 'any' - the law is pretty clear that it needs to be purposefully designed to be used as a weapon. (For example, flick knives and spring loaded knives.)
This distinction is made in legislation, and specifically called out in that legislation, so that utility knives that can be opened single handed are not considered Category M weapons - such as a Stanley Knife.

@henno: But you still can't carry a leatherman, stanley knife or any other type of "non-weapon" knife without a reasonable excuse. And the list of valid excuses is pretty clear.
https://www.police.qld.gov.au/weapon-licensing/law-and-weapo…
@wombat81: That is correct. But that doesn't matter if it is one-handed open, or single handed open, or fixed blade - that's an entirely different requirement, regardless of the blade mechanics. I was only talking to your point that "Any knife you can open with one hand is technically illegal to carry".
@henno: This is correct. Mind you, it often doesn't stop the police from charging people anyway:- https://archive.sclqld.org.au/qjudgment/2019/QDC19-128.pdf
@wombat81: I always carry a piece of fruit to be sure…
Anything is a weapon if you want it to be, walking sticks, umbrellas or kitchen knives. Generally, you need to have a 'lawful excuse' but if you go waving it around in public in front of police or people who are scared of knives then you're asking for trouble. Common sense and discrete use applies
It's ok, Im a trained boy scout. But, I have heard the W.A police also prefer them in those belt pouches as its not classified as concealed. Old info also with the way they change minds
In Vic, you can't carry any knives..
"You can’t carry knives, including kitchen knives, Swiss army knives or box-cutters, batons, cattle prods or bayonets without a lawful excuse.ÂA 'lawful excuse' could include having the weapon for work, sport, recreation or a weapons collection, display or exhibition. Lawful excuse does not include self-defence"
Not surprised by that lack of liberty in Vic to be honest
It's a tiny blade; you might do better with scissors, or a stone, or a stick, or a pen, or your shoe, belt, fist, foot, forehead, intelligence (foresight, avoidance etc)……
That doesn't change what's legal to carry and what isn't.
@wombat81: He was comparing it as a "weapon" to a utility knife. It clearly isn't designed as a weapon, but can be used as one, just like a utility knife. In most states (they have different laws) both are illegal to carry, even in Qld apparently - one hand opening for both.
Just a question as I see this is an overseas seller. Isn't it difficult to import knives into the country? From memory, I tried to buy something similar quite a few years ago and customs seized it.
Sold in Australia as well by local distributor so no need to import.
https://www.knifesupplies.com.au/spyderco-dragonfly-2-black-…Have a look on the border force pages. As long as they're not spring assisted, can be opened by shaking it/gravity, or has a ballistic blade it's fine to import. Some other restrictions apply but that's the gist of it when it comes to folding knives.
or the Victorinox classic pocket knife which is tiny and has scissors, toothpick, tweezers, blade, file / screwdriver (slot and philips). They are very useful and tiny. Should be around $25 elsewhere https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/equipment/kniv…
Second the classic, actually useful for day-to-day and super small. Unless you work a trade you wouldn't need pliers and massive blades.
I use to have a Wave but lost it. Now I own a Skeletool and I really like it, it has the things I need and is much lighter than the wave. Like you said, I don’t need a nail file or scissors. Pliers, knife and screwdriver bits is all.
Had my leatherman supertool 200 for 19 years and still going strong
How do you keep the magic alive after so long?
Leave it in the drawer.
Regular maintenance seems to do the trick. Not having sticky adhesive residue on your blades. Regular oiling of pivots and moving parts.
My DC59 still sucks like day one because I tear the machine down every 6-12 months for a complete clean of the cyclones. Keeps the motors clean and saves me having to buy a new machine every three years.
Got my leatherman supertool in 96, still going strong.
There are some decent prices on other Leathermans too.
Free T2 $79 (RRP $100) https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/equipment/kniv…
Free P2 $199 (RRP $280) https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/equipment/kniv…
i have a leatherman, but enjoy my one hand open gerber more.
No it isn't, you have posted the little sister, Leatherman Free T2. The T4 is $140 on kogan: https://www.kogan.com/au/buy/knivesonline-leatherman-free-t4…
The T2 for comparison is $79 on Anaconda atm: https://www.anacondastores.com/camping-hiking/equipment/kniv…
I'd retract the negative and view the deal with a more positive outlook - it's a far better price than "EVERYWHERE"
Sea bass?
More like be sass.
Amirite…
Badum tss!
The skeletools are the best. Nice big blade to
stabcut things with.OP, I think the title should say "Free T4" in inverted commas. Otherwise its just confusing to OzBargainers who aren't familiar with the product, it looks like a free product - but confusingly with a non-free price.
Free item or maybe couple dollar from some cheap countries import want to sell for $100?Oh dear
What are you talking about?
Link to said products? Because you can’t buy a similar quality tool for “maybe couple dollar”.
how is this better than a Victorinox swiss army knife trekker model? or solider model? both go for 70 bucks on amazon..
I own both. I tend to use the trekker far more, although could do without the saw in the place of the scissors for my purposes.
im sure there is a version of the swiss army knife that would have that.
Super tinker has those features, about AU$50: https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Super+Tinker
Tinker is close, and considerably cheaper at about AU$30. Loses the scissors though: https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Tinker
Neither knife has locking on any of the blades/tools.
@Russ: I also have a Super Tinker and I think it is my most-used "daily" knife in the true sense. Scissors, toothpick, blade, etc. It's a fantastic tool. I beat my up and it is so, so old.
As you said, it has no liner locks like the Trekker so I used them for very different purposes. Think camping and hiking versus cutting fruit and picking teeth in the office.
Its down to $81 but only few stores seem to show "Low" stock
