I ended up going with the new RM750 because of that.
The new one is A tier, where as this one is A+

This one has electronics in the cables to help with power stability, and that's what causes the stiffness. You probably don't really need it though
Upvote. Though, the spreadsheet is a bit hard to read. What's the best brand/model for 750W gold+ right now? From eyeballing, seems like 2019 Corsair RM, Bequiet, Antec??
There's a simplified version here https://linustechtips.com/topic/1116640-psucultists-psu-tier…
I think anything in A tier is considered best, although if you want to drill down further than that, you need that more complicated spreadsheet.
This RM750X still uses Japanese capacitors. The newer RM750 has capacitors that are made in China, and the cables are thinner throughout the length because it does not have in cable capacitors for filtering.
Between the two, RM750X is the better power supply, but the newer RM750 is slightly cheaper.
Clearing stock for the 2021 model? Announced ~2.5 weeks ago.

Paid $188 for mine in July - this is a great deal in my mind
The RM750x doesn't come with "Modern Standby", which the RM750 does.
The model listed here is "9020179-AU" (links to associated models below)
What's Modern Standby you ask?
" Modern Standby is an upcoming feature for Windows 10 that vastly improves your PC's sleep and wake functionality. The technology allows your system to wake from sleep more than twice as fast, as well as maintain a network connection during sleep to continue downloading updates and receive emails and notifications – just like your phone. Best of all, it does this with less overall power consumption.
To make use of Modern Standby, a compatible motherboard and CPU are also required. ""
I was about to recommend a family member get this for their build, so I spent the last hour looking at prices and comparing relative builds, it's a reliable PSU at a good price, but without Modern Standby, I can't give this purchase a two thumbs up to the tech illiterate.
For those interested, here is a link to the associated model on the Corsair website

This link is the updated RM750x model "9020199"

…And finally, here is the RM750

I hope this post provided some clarity towards your decision.
Didn't neg you. However, before buying a PSU with modern standby support, please make sure your CPU, motherboard (inc. chipset and BIOS) support modern standby first.
Hello, that part was already clearly written at the end of the Modern Standby description.
""To make use of Modern Standby, a compatible motherboard and CPU are also required. "
The RMx series does support modern standby i looked into it recently, theres a page somewhere that states it
How insightful of you to recall that there was a page somewhere that stated it.
I specifically listed the models that were being sold at this price, this particular model did NOT have modern standby. A lot of the time when technology is being sold at a good price, it's because they've updated a couple of things within, but the modifications aren't big enough for a new product launch.
The new and updated 2021 RM750x does come with Modern Standby, amongst a few other minor features.
Here are some links that talk about the new RM750x, which is being referred to as the 2021 RM750x while the other one is labelled at the 2016 RM750x.

Just ask them yourself dude that's what I did & I got my answer. I highly doubt Corsair customer support is wrong & you are right. All the RM series supports it along with The RMx that superceded it
that's great that PSU supports it.
but getting windows to sleep and wake up, yea, right
This is showing as $139 for me (with code) which is a damn fine price for a PSU this well built
Just missed out this morning :(
Available again
The cables that come with these are atrocious, the new RM750 comes with much more thin and flexible cables (but apparently slightly worse components if that matters to your PC)
