Anyone Using New Huawei Phones Here? How's The Google Issue Now?

Hi all,

So I just sold my Mate 20 Pro and started using the Galaxy S21 Ultra. The experience on the new (and latest) Samsung much inferior than the 3 year old mate 20. The battery on my 3 old Huawei is both charging much fast and keeping charge for much longer time than the S21 Ultra.

So to people who are using a mate 40 in Melbourne, what's your experience with the Google services issue? Can they be easily side loaded? Do banking apps work?
Also I heard that the phone has a notification problem. What's that about?

Thank you.

Maybe just join facebook group "Huawei Australia Community" and ask. I've seen a couple of guys there using mate40pro.

Google services can be sideloaded for sure. Tutorials are available on XDA or youtube.

Anz and Commbank work with sideloaded GMS. I guess the other banks will work as well since not a lot of banking apps require safetynet which is the only thing Huawei phones can't bypass.

    • Thanks mate.

  • On the s21 ultra battery I found mine took a week for all the apps to settle down (ie for the OS to figure out which ones I didn't use and put them to deep sleep). After that the battery goes all day - which for me is about 7 am to 12am (don't ask)

  • I being finding
Google Maps lagging or not working at all

Then I read you have to use the app called Here We Go
That app is annoying because when you are driving at below 5k's it makes a beep noise and you are only driving that pretty much when you are parking or reversing out of a carpark and it drives me nuts

    • Have you used Wayze? I've been using it for years. Much better than Maps, although a bit less clean.

      • I'll look it up and check the reviews
