Never dealt with Tint A CAR, can see people are pretty happy
Did see Premier Tint

  • Can anyone recommend paint and interior protection, I always thought it was a scam. I bought a new cx-9 8 months ago, paint and interior still look like new, I would have thought anything the dealer would have sprayed on would have worn off by now anyway.

    • Nah dealer wont add any protection unless you fork out extra ~1.5k ( for Both)
If you paid for it, usually they have 3-5 years warranty on it. Mazda dealer is actually charging extra for it.
Have heard good review for paint protection - bug, tar, dust and really good water repellent. Also fewer washes need as it is a 2 pac epoxy enamel like teflon based coating

      • +2

i'm in the automotive industry… "paint protection" is simply a spray on wax. "interior protection" is a waterproof style spray.

Do yourself a favour, either DIY or have your car professionally waxed/detailed every 6-12 months and this will have a better result. Also, pick up a few cans of scotchguard spray.

        • I just use armorall to spray the interior of my CX-7. Use it every week or 2. Looks like new.

  • personnally I wouldn't worry about paint protection and interior.

gone are the days when you keep a car for 10+ years.

my car has been sitting outside in queensland weather for 4 years ans still looks new after a wash. -though it is silver, so maybe a dark colour or red would benefit from paint protection over a light colour?

tinting-i'd always get it done. i got my tuscon in wodonga 5 years ago. best investment ever. only $185 -it was a deal. i drove a friends maxima for a day around brisbane and ended up with sunburnt hands!?!?!?

    • Thanks your opinion
Mates are really happy with these specially with new car and not to mention Melbourne's 4 seasons-in a 24 hrs period. Tinting alone is costing me over 400 for a SUV with lifetime warranty using 3m/formula1 product

  • +1

I have a friend who is in new car sales and he laughs at the people that pay those prices, there are obscene profit margins in the 'Paint & Interior Protection Packages' around 500-600% markup. The free tint thing is designed to give perceived value but it's already built into the price.

The deal with Premier Tint seems reasonable though.

    • Thanks Mate, yeah thats what I thought too. don't believe sales people most of the time. And 1.5 k seemed too much

Yeah Premier Tints seems like the option to go, will call tint-a-car to match the price anyway

      • No worries mate.

  • 777, check ozmazdaclub forum. They might suggest you if the car needs extra protection.
Though paint protection in most places is a joke.

    • thanks savit, never knew that existed, i am ford guy :P
Yeah mixed opnion there but around 600 is what some people suggested for mazda 3 though

  • There are also couple of dedicated AU forums how to look after the car - detailing, polish etc.
In my opinion, special protection might be required if the car is used in special conditions. eg from salt water protection for 4WD.
If the car will be used in normal conditions then standard factory protection should be enough otherwise something wrong with the car.
If you decide to get paint or similar protection - I would strongly suggest to get it from professional place - I have seen a number of cars with damaged paint after such 'paint protection services'.
