Hi all,
I am eyeing the market to purchase an AMD based laptop. However, there doesn't seem to be many options in Australia? Initial research I have done, HP and ASUS Zenbook seem to be the only ones that offer Ryzen 5-7 laptops. (Please correct me here if im wrong).
Current laptop: XPS 13 (2015) - i5 8GB RAM. 256SSD.
I've had no issues with the laptop since I've purchased it which I am happy to continue using but I would like to upgrade as I've started noticing some performance issues ( lagging with multitasking).
Ideally, I would like something that:
-Has longevity (~5 years)
-Fast for multitasking and do statistical programming and support dual-screen/widescreen monitor- 16GB?
-Small and easy to carry around (13-14 inches, maybe 15?)
-Dockable to my workstation
-Has headphone jack.
What I don't want:
-Macintosh
What are my options at the moment? Is it worth waiting another 8 months or so for sales (eg.Black Friday / Amazon Prime day)?
Thanks in advance.
My current machine is the Thinkpad X13, which is the successor to the Thinkpad X390.
No thunderbolt because it's AMD Ryzen 4000 but it will tick all your boxes.
One thing to note is the RAM is soldered and non upgradable, and Lenovo sells them in 8 or 16GB configurations. They are configured in dual channel mode regardless of which model you pick.
