Dual Monitor Mounts for a Pair of Dell S2721DGF

Hi guys,
I know nothing about monitor mounts and I have a pair of Dell S2721DGF gaming monitors on their way.
They use a VESA 100x100 according to RTINGS.

So my questions are:

  1. What's better? Gas or spring?
  2. Is there a way to mount it if I don't have access to the back of my desk? It sits flush against the wall and I run all my cables through a circular hole at the back which is about 5cm across

What are you guys using? Will I need a bigger hole at the back to clip a mount onto? Any photos of your setups would be amazing.

Thanks!

Have no experience with springs, but I use a gas dual mount for my S2721DGF and S2721D (both are identical from the front). I used this North Bayou mount: https://www.amazon.com.au/Monitor-Motion-Swivel-Spring-Compu…
Make sure the vesa mount you get is compatible as the DGF mounting area is not flush at the back. For e.g. the NB F160 does not fit the DGF, but the H160 does.
Here are pics of my setup. Takes a bit of time trying to adjust the gas to what you need but overall pretty good for my first vesa mount.

Hope these help give you an idea of what to do!

    • Looks awesome mate, but as per my point 2, I don't have access to the back of my desk unfortunately (like you do)
Some kind of clamp through the hole I have might work however under the desk I only have about 3 inches of space

      • With these mounts, you have the option to drill holes in the desk instead of clamping. Could be possible to drill holes just in front of the existing cable hole in your desk and mount it there.
After seeing the pic of your desk, I reckon you need to consider how you will manage to fit the monitors side by side (if that will be your preferred setup) on the dual vesa mount. You would need sufficient clearance behind it to adjust the arms like my current setup for e.g.. Otherwise 2 single mounts as suggested below may be the better option.

Check out Varidesk - They make super high quality monitor arms that have really sturdy support bases, can easily hold my 38" Alienware on one arm. Excellent warranty too, ive had them send me a whole new one 9 months after just for a new screw haha.

Prices are also very reasonable given it's a decent company for that sort of stuff.

    • they look super good quality but as above, I don't have access to the back of my desk, it sits flush with a gyprock wall and everything runs through a 5cm across circle in the wooden desk

      • Ahh bugger :(

  • Just use 2 single mout, you might able mout them on each side of the table if your table is not very wide.

  • This is what I'm dealing with guys:

You can buy monitor arms designed for grommets. Or just get an arm with normal clamp, and put it through the grommet like so

      • Yes! That's exactly what I am after! Something with that type of attachment that will hold dual 27's

      • Hey, do you have any links to a stand with a traditional clamp that fits in the grommet? Just like your photo. I need the space behind for cables.

  • Found this one cheap on Marketplace: https://www.jbhifi.com.au/products/xcd-gas-double-monitor-br…

Going to try and avoid drilling if possible, thanks for the suggestions, I will post here when it's all setup if it works lol

  • Hi guys, thanks to everyone that commented, here's how it ended up, I'm pretty happy with it:
