While it's always nice to own something because things can be pulled off services, this is on Game Pass, and since MS own Bethesda now, it's pretty likely it will never leave the service. So bare that in mind, cobbas.

How much is gamepass per month after the intro offer?

Oh don't get me wrong, I don't know this shit either buddy, I just mean in general if you're on Game Pass regardless and looking at this, it's probably never gonna leave the service.

      • As the memberships are console-wide (the only thing you can't access is the Game Pass points program), I just create new accounts to take advantage of the $1 deal, whenever I feel like playing any of the featured games.

  • I remember the day when my friend was playing this and I said wtf is this shite?

Then I ended up buying the limited edition and played it till my fingers fell off

    • "I used to be an adventurer like you… till I played so much my fingers fell off"

  • If you haven't already, play the Shivering Isles expansion. One of the highlights of not just Oblivion but the entire franchise.

I personally find this to be the most immersive elder scrolls game.

      Here, here.

I never understood why Oblivion seems to be the favourite whipping boy of the entire franchise but I think it's probably because of selective memory and late-comers to the series who only ever played Skyrim. Vanilla Morrowind was absolute jank without a shit tonne of mods and fan-made patches and Skyrim has a weaker, blander atmosphere compared to the environments of Cyrodiil in Oblivion and its well-populated, bustling cities/towns and I think the quests were a lot more varied and imaginative in Oblivion too (especially the guild quests). For a game from 2006, it's judged a lot more harshly than a sequel from 2011 that had a lot more time in development and yet still got some incredibly fundamental stuff wrong.

I still loved both games but having sunk hundreds of hours into Oblivion back in 2006 when there was literally no other open-world RPG like it, there's just no way Skyrim could have had the same impact and novelty for me, especially once you add the vibrant Oblivion modding community that existed well before Skyrim released and fixed every major issue people had with the game not to mention drastically improved the visuals and gameplay. Oblivion's map size is actually larger than Skyrim's (41 vs 36 square kilometres) and I still remember the most iconic vistas from Oblivion (Imperial City, Anvil, Shivering Isles, Dive Rock, that weird quest where you enter a painting, etc) far more vividly than the scenery from Skyrim, despite the fact I played the latter far more recently.

  • It's not a bad deal, I just don't see how it's better than getting one through game pass, or getting it on PC for the bajillion mods
