* Bamix - are they the best stickmixer?

  • Hi Ozbargainers, looking to buy a Stickmixer and would appreciate your experience as to whether Bamix is the best and of course, the recommended place to buy. Thanks for that!

  • Can't comment on Bamix, but I would say it depends what you want to do with it. I bought an expensive Breville one with a stainless steel stick. It burned out - I got it replaced and that burned out too. I bought a cheapie from Woolies and that is still going strong.

  • +1
    • Thanks Saxlady - as a newly single male I'm not sure what I want to do with it! Have been told by many though that it will make my lousy cooking better, so it must be able to work miracles…
    • I have a cheap Breville and can't recall the last time I used it!
I've used it to liquify soups a few times and to make Milkshakes. What other uses there might be I don't know.
As a general rule, I think Kitchen Appliances are useless…with the exception of Toaster, Kettle, a good Coffee Machine and Coffee Grinder. EDIT: Oh and Rice Cooker… definitely worth getting if you eat Rice.

The only vital Kitchen tools are:
      Good Knives
some Spoons for mixing and serving.
      Good pots/pans
      a few chopping boards
      and a strainer

EDIT: Kitchen Appliances I own and have used once or twice only:
MixMaster - Used 20 times or so for cakes
Blender - Used 3 times for smoothies
Kitchen Wizz - Used Once to chop Onions for a big BBQ
IceCream Maker - Used 10 times

      • You forget the Sandwich Press. Nothing taste better for a winter lunch than toasted cheese sammies!

  • Braun is good. I have had more than 5 years of regular use out of it.

    • recently brought a braun too.. very happy with it

  • Second the Braun suggestion. Had mine for a couple of years now and it is probably the appliance I use most. I have the one which came with the stick, small sized processor and ice crusher.
