Wii Console - Black or White with Mario Kart & Wheel $138 at DSE

440

why buy preowned Wii console for $79 at ebgames when you can buy a brand new Wii console with Mario Kart + Wheel at DSE for $138?
web price is still $188 but DSE will change it to $138 soon or you can print out the link provided and
show them for $138.
Good night all

EDIT: Thanks Grimezy for information.
For those in doubt it is priced at $138 in store, we put up signs for it yesterday.

It is a 5 day deal, so there's 4 days left of it at that price.

The marketing team is encouraging kids to bring a Wii console to school? I would get killed.

Um, where does it say that?

    • +1

hahaha…you are right K. backpack picks pointed to that $138 Wii deal before.

  • free delivery?

  • It looks like a web only special…

  • cant see that price on the web, has it changed back or are they yet to change it? if you know its going to change are you a rep?

your link just points to the general gaming section:
    http://dicksmith.com.au/gaming/nintendo-wii/wii-consoles
this is the wii consoles section..

    • i wish i printed that web page out last night.

i am very sure K, IsTops and adam111316 also viewed that page as well.

anyhow if you are buying Wii console please hold it for a few hours and i have nothing to do with DSE.

when i saw that AD i spent time and posted it for my fellow ozbargainers . have a good day.

      • ahh ok so its probably expired or an error on the site?

  • +2

Why? Because it's 77% more for the same thing with a game you might not want.

"why buy preowned Wii console for $79 at ebgames when you can buy a brand new Wii console with Mario Kart + Wheel at DSE for $138?"
ah, cause some people might like to pay less?

    • +2

lol, exactly. It's like asking, why pay $11,500 for a used car when you buy a new one for $20,000?

      • +3

Percentage wise you're correct in your comparison when the dollar amounts are ignored. However, consider that a teenager might have to work 4 hours more to afford a new Wii rather than a used one.

They would have to work 550+ hours more to buy the new car rather than second hand. Bit of a difference, no?

        • the question was "why buy preowned…?"

the analogy is perfectly apt for describing why SOME people would choose one over the other. how long someone needs to work in order to afford one over the other is entirely irrelevant - they are not trying to prove that EVERYONE would choose preowned, just that SOME people would.

some people will choose to work the extra hours to buy a new wii, just like some people will work the extra hours to buy a new car. good for them.

but some people will buy the used wii and/or the used car, whether it's 4 hours or 550+ hours they need to work.

          the question was stupid.

ps. i personally would choose to buy a preowned wii (for the many reasons outlined in the comments) and a preowned car.

      • u cant compare apple and oranges.. its like a new 2005 car sold in 2011. same console just made couple years later

        • if anything, that makes the analogy even more apt: i would rather buy a used 2005 car (in good working condition) for little over half the price of the same 2005 model car sold as new.

sure some people might pay the extra for the (old) new car. but others wouldn't, and there are many reasons why one might not.

so where are the 20+ Plus' coming from, has anybody actually got the deal for $138 and has a valid link for it?

  • Don't you all worry about this. I'm sure going by DS's record, these will most likely be 'pre-owned' Wii's too. :)

  • For those in doubt it is priced at $138 in store, we put up signs for it yesterday.

It is a 5 day deal, so there's 4 days left of it at that price.

    • so is it instore only? web price still says $188

  • The link was there last night and earlier today. item numbers were YG4166WEB and YG4167WEB. The ad clearly stated the price was $138 and valid until 16/1/12, however the online price never changed from $188. Maybe stock was an issue or the deal was released early? Included free shipping too.

  • Good deal, got it for 148 some time in 2011 in DSE.

why buy a new wii thats been around for donkey years when in a year will be worth 40$ when u can get a perfectly working one 78$ and be worth the same in a year

    • and may have an older version DVD drive…:D ;)

      that said,
      1. warantee
      2. should last longer as its new, IE if wiis in general have a 7 year average life span, its already been used for a few years, reducing the remaining availible life.
      3. you know how its been treated
      4. that warm fuzzy feeling you get when unboxing a new toy…(not quite the same with a new second hand toy)

that said are those worth the difference in $$$ to you?

  • +2

The catalog and the website both say it's still $188 but if you go instore, you'll find that it's $138. I took a photo for those non-believers (http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=9qgqao&s=5). I also bought one myself :)

    • so 138$ it comes with those all (bonuses???) but only 1 controller/nunchuck, right?

      • The $138 price doesn't include the Black Eyed Peas game or Charge Pack, that Bonus is still only for the $188 bundle.

The $138 you're getting the newer Wii Console, Mario Kart with Steering Wheel, as well as the Motion Controller, and Nunchuck.

  • Game cube compatibility?

    • edit: see below.

    • No GameCube compatibility, due to it being the newer console which doesn't have the GameCube controller ports.

      • oh, i did not know that…sorry, my bad!

  • I'm deciding whether to pick one up for the little one. Which color should I get?

are there any particular reason why the Wiis are getting cheaper? such as Wii-2 coming soon?

    • The Wii U is said to be released mid 2012, so you can expect some good prices in the next 6 months on the Wii.

      Source: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wii_U

I bought a wii from DSE pre-Christmas when they had the same deal on their online store.

      • Thanks cashews….

  • since most games are for 2 people, how much is extra controller/nunchuck? can we buy one cheapo copy from ebay ?

    • About $80 for the combo. You might need nun chuck, wiimotes are about $60 atm in big w o target

  • Big W had this same kit for the same price ($138) in March 2011 - picked one up then as part of my son's b'day pressie. Good to see this pricing come around again for others - albeit the slighly less featured Wii (no gamecube support etc).
