Should I Buy CX Display Unit?

Good day bargain hunters!

I've moved into a new house and I've gradually bought a few electrical appliances at my local electrical store. A sales man has been able to give me pretty good prices for most appliances.

The one item I haven't got yet is the CX 65/55 and been waiting for prices to go down slowly(we are all waiting). I was hoping to pull the trigger on the 65 if it ever gets to sub 3k.
The salesman has told me that he can sell me the DISPLAY LG CX 65 for just under 2.9k which is in my budget. The DISPLAY CX55 was estimated to just over 2.1k.

Questions
- Is buying display unit more likely to have troubles with burn in? I'm assuming that tv is on every day, all opening hours however it is not a still image.
- Will LG warranty cover for burn in now days? (all I could find online was outdated forums)
- Does the "new" chip avoid burn in? (salesman mentioned)
- My media room is 3mx3m so realistically I'll be on the couches 2.5m from the wall where I will mount the TV. Is the 65 over kill for 2.5m away ? I will be hoping to watch it from dinning area as well. which is roughly 6m away.
- Would you buy CX 65 for 2.9k knowing it was a display unit?

Any info regarding this questions will help me heaps as I know some of you know your tech info.
Thanks in advance!

65' is fine for that distance.

check how many hrs it has been on display in the settings (avforums has instructions) and that should help you make a decision.

    Never buy display OLED.

The store will set it up with the maximum brightness levels, and won't care about what it's running or when. It could even be on 24/7 usage.

This risk is simply too huge for OLED to take. Even half price, I wouldn't buy. Also, not entirely sure you'll have an easy time under ACL if things go wrong.

Also, $2.9K is a bad price and a total joke.

    • Thanks for the feedback chief!

I really wanted a Panasonic OLED but was about to move house at the time and missed my chance. The opportunity came up to buy a display one some time later for a decent price, but unfortunately I eventually came to the conclusion that the risk wasn't worth it for OLED. I certainly wouldn't do it for a $300-400 saving.

Check what type of content they’re playing. If it’s something like Foxtel then forget it. If it’s the inbuilt demo then that’s fine as there’s no static images.

LG doesn’t technically cover burn in at all and if they do then it’s more good will than anything. They also have special procedures for display models ie. trying their damn best to repair it and not replace it if anything goes wrong which is a pain I’ve gone through myself.

The new models have burn in prevention features but they’re not fool proof.

    65” is fine for 2.5.

I bought my display C9 for roughly 2.8k last year and it was brilliant. Until it died :( (not because it was a display model!).
You can check how many hours it’s been running for in the system menus just FYI.
