Reid E4 Electric Scooter - $399 + Delivery ($0 C&C) @ Anaconda (Club Membership Required)

190

Yes not legal in various states etc etc. but it is in QLD where I am. Best check with your states current rules…

Cheapest so far I believe, I'd take the $799 RRP with a pinch of salt but $489-499 has been the usual 'sale' price before. $399 for Adventure Club Members (free to join). Available for delivery (at oversized 2 rate) or very limited store stock for pickup.

This is no Segway Max or Xiaomi Pro 2, but I am not sure what would compete with it at this price level especially with a bricks and mortar store to take it back to if you have an issue. The 1S was on offer for $399 not long ago, but I have never ridden one so can't compare that one.

Has solid tyres so no punctures which was a factor given it was for teens, however because of that it's also not the smoothest ride in the world. You will know the difference moving between one of these and something with suspension or pneumatic tyres. We have two of these and range has exceeded the stated 28km but the riders are both sub 65kg. They will do 25km/h even with me on, and I am just over 100kg, but I doubt they would make it up much of a hill with my bulk. Fairly solid build, certainly one up on the copies of the Xiaomis you see on the sales groups, and probably equal to a real Xiaomi or Ninebot. Parts probably more of a pain than a Xiaomi, though you can mix and match most things other than the dash which is a unique shape.

No hacks I can find to unlock it, the USA models were sold with 30kmh speed originally but those too are locked to 25kmh now after firmware updates. The electronic lock feature has never shown in the app for me and the cruise control has never worked. That said I would disable it if it did work. It has underdeck lighting, blue, which the kids like but not really for me. Also has an RGB light around the main headlight which you can control via the app if that's your thing.

  • Can anyone find a Xiaomi Pro 2 thats cheaper than $700 atm?

    • +1

      $699 Xioami Mi-store store
      $698 Catch
      $689 Gearbite

or do you mean significantly less? then so, setup an Ozbargain alert

  • What is the waterproofing rating?

    • +2

IPX4 … so not the best, but not the worst. However it does specify that is for battery and controller with no mention of the motor.

  • Good found OP. I also found from other websites that the scooter weighed 13.1kg. I might be a bit heavy for some people like myself.

Scooter mass is mostly down to build quality and battery size. Battery really isn't huge on this thing, but it does feel pretty solid so I'd guess its mostly down to that.

  • Can anyone find a Xiaomi 1S thats cheaper than $599 atm?

    • Wouldn’t this be slightly better than the 1S, at this price?

      • 1S was $399 just about a week or two ago, and by comparing the specs of both two, I can see that E4 is heavier and bulkier than the 1S with less total riding range. Same water resistance as 1S, but no resistant rating done for solids. It also got solid tyres making it less comfortable than 1S's inflatable tyres.

Similar to 1S, but just not as good. Yes you and I probably should buy this E4 if 1S doesn't have a sale on for the next three months.

        • Yes I am shattered I missed out on that deal! But unless it hits $399 again it seems this E4 will be a good substitute.

          Thanks for the comparison notes!

          • @Broos: It was devastating that many ppl like you and me missed out on that 1S deal. PC Byte the authorised reseller of Xiaomi basically sold out all their stock in that one, and by stalking them recently, I highly doubt that they will run another sale on it anytime soon. They are being too tight on this one especially around the Ebay discount. Given the time value of money and 'buy early, enjoy early' thinking, you and me are being forced to buy this E4 instead. It is just too hard to wait for another 3mth for 1S on sale :(

@Broos: PC Byte even bumped their price for 1S up to $688 now, ridiculous

I wonder why Xiaomi just doesn't ship more 1S to Australia and make a fortune….

  • What the range on this?

    • As per the OP:

We have two of these and range has exceeded the stated 28km but the riders are both sub 65kg.

  • For those looking at alternatives the newest Ninebot range seems to be rapidly approaching, the F20, F25, F30, F40 and F60. Might be some deals on the older models to come soon as well of course.

    • Thank you so much OP for sharing these scooter deals! Will stay vigilant for those ones

Price gone to $599 again… anybody who wanted one keep an eye out as the price goes up and down like a YoYo.

    • Price back to $399 as part of the half price scooters deal on at the moment,
