Yes not legal in various states etc etc. but it is in QLD where I am. Best check with your states current rules…
Cheapest so far I believe, I'd take the $799 RRP with a pinch of salt but $489-499 has been the usual 'sale' price before. $399 for Adventure Club Members (free to join). Available for delivery (at oversized 2 rate) or very limited store stock for pickup.
This is no Segway Max or Xiaomi Pro 2, but I am not sure what would compete with it at this price level especially with a bricks and mortar store to take it back to if you have an issue. The 1S was on offer for $399 not long ago, but I have never ridden one so can't compare that one.
Has solid tyres so no punctures which was a factor given it was for teens, however because of that it's also not the smoothest ride in the world. You will know the difference moving between one of these and something with suspension or pneumatic tyres. We have two of these and range has exceeded the stated 28km but the riders are both sub 65kg. They will do 25km/h even with me on, and I am just over 100kg, but I doubt they would make it up much of a hill with my bulk. Fairly solid build, certainly one up on the copies of the Xiaomis you see on the sales groups, and probably equal to a real Xiaomi or Ninebot. Parts probably more of a pain than a Xiaomi, though you can mix and match most things other than the dash which is a unique shape.
No hacks I can find to unlock it, the USA models were sold with 30kmh speed originally but those too are locked to 25kmh now after firmware updates. The electronic lock feature has never shown in the app for me and the cruise control has never worked. That said I would disable it if it did work. It has underdeck lighting, blue, which the kids like but not really for me. Also has an RGB light around the main headlight which you can control via the app if that's your thing.
