Any Set Day/Time for $0 Delivery?

Most days & some nights there's $0 delivery offers on Ubereats rotating about every 20 minutes, usually around 5 outlets at a time, & rotates between a pool of about 10 outlets. Seems to be a bit random, sometimes it will be up to about 6pm, other times its till 9pm or so.

So anyone know if there's some sets days/times for these? Or perhaps they pop up when things are a bit quiet on there so they want to attract more customers? FYI this is for Box Hill area in Melbourne.

No set time. It's meant to be when someone else in your vicinity has also ordered at the same place thus you get a discounted/free delivery to tack your order on top of one already being picked up and delivered near you.

You still get stung by service fee and jacked up rates so don't think you're saving much.

    • you sure about that? it doesn't say anything about sharing a delivery driver at all, it's a section of the app not when you order then it asks if you want to share . Also i forgot to mention it's $20 minimum order too. The item prices are the same on there with or without the free delivery.

Yep, living in the CBD you get tons of rotating choice. Upon order, when you track the delivery person picking up your order from the establishment, it literally tells you they're making another stop few streets down first before you.

Prices are significantly increased from ordering direct from store or picking up yourself on every single item. So the $3.99 or $5.99 whatever you may be "saving" on delivery is already taken by increasing each individual item's price as well as the new service charge they have added on top.

As long as you know and happy to overpay for convenience, all good. Most people don't realise this and that (if possible), jumping on a bicycle or car to order and pick up direct saves you a considerable amount.

I'm fairly sure i've tracked free deliveries and they don't stop off anywhere else, maybe it depends on where one lives. Anyway all good, i'm aware some places charge more for the items on UE as opposed to picking up directly, and in most cases i'm happy to pay for the convenience. It depends on how much they jack up the prices, Macca's & Red Rooster are like 20-30%, too much, whereas most of the Asian places eg China Bar, it might be 10% if that. Especially since parking around the Asian district can be hard to find when busy, & not all of its free.

@iluvpizza: I happened to do a few Ubereats deliveries recently. What “Hybroid” said is mostly correct.
This is what happened when you ordered from one of the "rotation" restaurants

            1. Ubereats driver on the way picking up someone else's order
            2. Ubereats driver got a message on driver app asking if he would like to add one more delivery to your current itinerary. The second restaurant is close to the first one.
            3. Ubereats driver picked up some else's order and then picked up yours (enforced by Ubereats)
            4. Ubereats driver has to deliver your food first in most cases (also enforced by Ubereats)
            5. Ubereats driver continued to deliver the first order after your delivery.
Ubereats enforced the order of picking whose food and deliver whose first by not revealing the delivery address/pickup details unless you follow their way. This is pretty unfair to the first person ordering the food though.
          • @iluvpizza: wow downvote me for saying i'm happy to pay for the convenience? lol

@iluvpizza: You've been downvoted for telling someone they are incorrect when they've laid out to you what happens, and why, and it logically makes sense.

  • someone posted a loophole here on how to always get it

I believe it was patched shortly after it was posted.

    • yeah i saw that but would really rather not potentially do a driver out of their delivery fee & possibly get banned from the app if i got caught too. Even with $0 delivery i usually add $2 driver tip, so i'm still saving $3 or so on delivery.

  • Menulog currently have free delivery on Maccas, Subway and Guzman incase UE doesn't have what you need for free on rotation. Off peak ordering also only has a $1.99 delivery fee.
