Long time commenter, first time poster…

Flippin stoked to find a Weber at this price. I could probably sell it for more considering RRP is roughly $780.

To save more, use celebration swap gift cards from shopback for 5% cashback, which brings it below 600. Not the historical cheapest for this, but one of the better deals of recent times.

And the tick of approval of many in the ozbargain community. How can you go wrong?! Go get yourself one and join the club :)

  • Is this the right link?

    • +2

link fixed. Apologies. I tried to do it on my phone.

  • Nice bought one of these from good guys eBay at Christmas. It was 15% off the regular price of about $770. Why is the regular price so cheap now?

    • +1

Maybe Tim Cook is going to release a new one with a better camera soon?

      • +1

That will undoubtedly make it The Best Weber Ever! :-p

  • This model misses out on a few things the Weber store model has https://www.weber.com/AU/en/barbecues/weber-q-range/family-q…

    • Thermometer? what else?

      Curious

      • High lid and electric ignition

      • +3

The thermometer, the lid in the Q3200 is a bit higher (by 1.5 inches or so according to a quick search) and it has an electronic ignition.

I have the Q3100 and it’s fine. The thermometer would be nice but we grabbed the iGrill for temperature and for $20 I plan to get the “ambient” probe to take readings from inside the BBQ. iGrill wasn’t cheap but I’d have wanted one to take the foods temperature anyway. Other two aspects aren’t overly important to me.

    • Thanks, what are the differences between the 3100 and 3200.

      • Thermometer, electronic ignition and slightly higher lid.

  • +3

Why is this better than the usual BBQs sold at Bunnings for much less?

    • +1

Durability, versatility, roasting, evenly distributed heat.

      • +1

Want to add it's real easy to clean too. Just good design all round.

    • +4

      Like this for $79 more https://www.bunnings.com.au/gasmate-odyssey-3-burner-bbq_p31… ?
Weber is a no brainer over that bbq. The bunnings ones arent too bad but Weber has an insanely good Warranty (10 years on everything including plates) and its a premium brand. I will say however, buy the Weber but buy all your knock off Weber accessories from Bunnings.

      • +4

FYI the warranty is 5 years on Qs (they often honour stuff outside that, but you can't bank on it) and accessories are 2 years.

Source: on and off worked at a Weber Specialist dealer

        • What sort of thing do people need to warranty claim on? Mines been rock solid, surely there isn't much to go wrong.

          • @theguyrules: paint peeling on the ceramic lid, piezo ignition failing after years

            • @Unrvl: Yeah the Piezo ignition is known to go on the fritz, but there's a lifetime warranty on the igniter.

Feels a bit rough that you got negged for what seems to be a genuine question. But as others have said, quality wise, the Weber Q is a great unit. Feels premium because it is. Even heat distribution on its own makes such a big difference. With the cheaper units from bunnings, firstly they’ll rust, even when under cover, the trolley feels like an ikea cabinet with a few loose screws and you’ll have to work hard to find the “good spot” to cook your steak each time. I started with a baby Q on an apartment balcony, years of service, sold it for a good amount then went to the family Q now I have my own place. Love it.

      • +5

        Cheers.

        Negs sustain me.

It was a genuine question as I've been looking at options.

      • Do the webers rust easily? How easy are they to clean Compared to the traditional bunnings one?

  • Anyone C&C this before?

Would it fit in a standard size sedan?

    unfazed about the 34kg.

    • +26

      Unfazed because you lift?

    • +2

      100 cm long 52wide 74deep box size

      • cheers!

    • +2

Got it in the back of my a250 (hatch back)… Just… Had to drive real far up

      • I got one secondly hand off gumtree and fit the trolley, bbq and a decent sized gas tank into a Ford Fiesta with the seats down. The trolley was assembled in my case (popped the bbq off it but). I assume it’s be a lot easier from the store as they’ll presumably be stored flat for assembly?

        • +2

You're right. I got it mixed up with a recent piano purchase…

The issue was the height of the box and getting into the back. It just made it. You can always tie the hatch down too.

    • You would struggle in a sedan. Hatchback no worries.

    • Got it into a BMW coupe. Would not recommend that though.

    • Got one in the back of a Honda civic

  • +3

Does it come with adoption papers?

  • +1

    Upvoted for OP’s username lol

    • It's very pommie…

  • Any good deal for natural gas version?

  • Great first post thanks OP

  • I picked one of these up during the Xmas sale and it’s been amazing!! Highly recommend!! It leaves my old 6 burner “flare up” bbq for dead!!

  • Sweet I have been hanging out waiting for a Weber sale. Greeat post.

  • Have an ⬆️ just for your handle OP… 😂

  • Thanks OP. Bought one for C&C hopefully today.

  • Is it true these aren't great for steaks? I cook a lot of eye fillet and read the plates don't get hot enough so you need to cook with the lid down.

    • +1

When I had one I found it awesome for steak. Cooking with the lid down helps keep the smoke in so it really gets into the flavour of the meat. I will admit that I found I had the let the grill plates heat for longer to get a decent sear, but that’s not too bad.

    • +4

Webers are designed for closed lid cooking. If you want the old open top style of bbq, buy something else.

I have a weber Q2200 and love it. For steak, preheat to max temp with the lid closed. Place your room temp oiled/seasoned steak on the grill, close the lid for whatever time your doneness requires. Flip and do the other side, lid closed again. Take off and rest. Perfect.

      • +1

This is correct. Use a stop watch for the time needed too. 30sec too long means your steak isn't perfect. The steak needs to be thicker than an inch for best results too.

    • +1

I’ve never found anything better for steaks, a purist would do steaks over hot coals I guess but I’ve had both the baby Q and family Q and can nail an eye fillet. Pre-heat for 10 minutes on high, then I drop the heat back to half on both rings, no oil required, just salt and pepper or your favourite rub and then 2-2.5 minutes on each side depending on thickness (more for a fat steak) for medium rare. Mouth watering, juicy steak. Even the vacuum packed Aldi eye fillets come out amazing. Oh and lid down the whole time of course! Keep that flavour in!

      • +1

I find people who complain about steak on weber q haven't actually changed the way they cook. They try to cook with the lid open like a council bbq at the park.

Weber q burners don't put out a great deal of Joules because they are designed to cook with the lid down. Use it as intended and it's great. I cook a huge percentage of our meals on ours - anything that can be grilled or oven cooked works out well on it.

    • +1

You could save yourself some money and get a Weber Kettle and have a lot of fun playing with fire and getting really high heat and great charcoal flavour and extremely versatile. Can get top of the line Mastertouch Plus for less than this or even a second hand cheapie will do a great job, they last forever.

  • Jumped on board! Thanks OP

  • Want one, would wait for the best deal

  • Been eyeing one of for a while. Bought one, click and collect (today), notified and collected same day, cooking on it now!

  • I love my Weber Family Q but they are stupidly over priced. I would be getting a Kamado if I had my chance again

  • How does this compare with Ziggy by Ziegler & Brown from BBQ Galore? Ziggy is equally expensive though.

    • +1

I was trying to decide between them(My main concern was heat output for steak etc with lid open), Good Guys refused to light the weber for me, whereas BBQ Galore were willing to light the ziggy and provide BTU values for both, The Ziggy was significantly hotter and I found it to be made of thicker more quality feeling material and this bought a ziggy triple 8 months ago, it really has been amazing for grilling steaks, doing roasts and everything in between. my only complaint would be the price of the accessories, such as the flat plate which I later bought for breakfasts, other than that it is amazing and still looks new even with twice daily use as my apartment has an electronic stove so bbq is just way way cheaper to run.

  • My main issuye with goodguys is they don't stock the better model that comes with the temp gauge and piezo starter and better paint finish.

Need to find where I got mine from but it was cheaper than this, included delivery from Sydney and was the top model.

Can't complain about it though, just remember to keep the lid down otherwise you're in for a bad time lol

  • Great price, bummer I missed out. Love my mini Weber but want the big version
