Best Mobile Phone for $300, Looking for One with a Good Camera

Trying to replace my phone.

Realme6 mobile was recommended to me at $299 as the camera specs are good for my price point.

Reviews say the camera is slow to focus though and is annoying.

Has anyone used one? Or can suggest other phones to look at. I am happy to try any phone.

I don't know any phone that has GOOD camera for $300. But if you can stretch your budget to $400, I think the TCL 10 PRO is an option. It has 6GB RAM, a HDR AMOLED Screen with a decent camera setup. Android 11 is also available for it.

    Xiaomi Redmi Note 9 / POCO X3 / POCO F1

  • I don't know how soon you need this or how much you spend a month but JB frequently has deals on BYO port-in like this:

    Telstra $59/Month 80GB/Month (12 Months) + $500 JB Hi-Fi Gift Card (12Mo Contract, Port-In, New Service Only) @ JB Hi-Fi

This could allow you to get a $500 handset of you could spend $800 ($500+ $300 you hoped to spend) and get something very decent.

Alternatively you could look at getting a Pixel 2 or 3. They have pretty decent camera for most things.

  • Save up a bit longer and get the new release Galaxy A52.

If I didn't have a pathological hatred of Android, it seems like good specs for $599.

  • I just bought the Redmi Note 10 pro for around $300 on Aliexpress. It has the same 108MP sensor in it's main camera as the Samsung galaxy S21, however unlike the Samsung it doesn't have OIS. Crazy good quality and the stock camera app is decent too. The other cameras are pretty average though.

If you are just wanting to take photos, it's killer, but the lack of OIS and EIS for 4K video make it average for Video.

Really depends on a lot of factors!!!

Do you want a good phone for $300 which has an acceptable camera?
Or do you want any phone (even crappy one) for $300 which has the best possible camera?
And by camera, are you just talking about the hardware? What about the software? Or how about the secondary sensors like the Selfie, UltraWide, or the Periscope?

And even after you answer those crucial questions, you're left with others:
    - Does it have to be Brand New?
    - Local source/warranty?
    - Is Used acceptable? And if so, what condition?
