Odd, my phone's showing zero reviews and only 1000k+ installs. It seems like a new app that the developer is trying to get out for free to build reviews/installs before charging people $7.99 for it.

    • +2

The app is few years old, and I can see 10 reviews on the Google Play website. Your phone might be hiding reviews written on other devices.

    • +4

      4.8 stars with 137 reviews & 1k+ downloads

      Released on 16 Aug 2018

      Last Updated 2 Apr 2021

      • Mine is also showing:
        5K+ Downloads,
        No Reviews yet.

        Weird.

    • 1000k+ installs

Looks like your phone is a bit off lol. It says 1K+ installs, and there's 169 reviews.

Before you diss the developer, think about it and realise:
If more than one-thousand people downloaded this app, how could there be 0 reviews

Tried app and it works well

Not to be confused with SunniTrack, the secret government surveillance program

Also, I love this app. Thanks for posting it OP.
Now I can figure out how far north I need to travel to avoid winter seasonal affective disorder this year

    • How?

      • -2

        By using this app :)

      • +3

Angle of the sun at noon. The app shows it’s currently a 50 degree tilt in Sydney and I’m doing ok. By June it will drop to 32 degrees which is like a short day where my brain thinks the day skips straight from early morning to afternoon and I never properly wake up. Looking at Cairns in June the sun only drops to 49 degrees so I’d imagine that would be a lot better for me. Depending on how I am over the next few weeks Brisbane might also be an option

        • +2

          Thankyou for your explanation.
          Makes sense.
Easier and more detailed than trying to figure out from just latitude.
          Good luck with your journey.

Does it work at night time?

    • Yes it does

      • -1

How can it work at night when there is no sun?
        Does it give an error?

        • +5

There’s a line which goes 360..which I guess one might call a circle..that shows the path of the sun on a given day. There’s a sun icon which travels along the line showing the position of the sun at that time, but like the sun it only appears above the horizon and disappears when it’s below it. So yeah it works at night in that it still shows the arc that the sun would be travelling along but there just isn’t an indicator of where the sun is at that point in time

          • @ChadHominem: The sun doesn't travel, it stays in the centre of the solar system.

            • +1

@Wardaddy: How silly of me. Can you please rewrite my explanation in a more correct way?

              • @ChadHominem: Yes, I can. But I'm not going to.

                • @Wardaddy: Then what help are you

                  • @ChadHominem: I supply facts.

                    • +1

@Wardaddy: Well get the facts right so. The Sun does travel :-)

                      • @Borg: Yes, but not relative to the earth or the rest of the galaxy. That's why our galaxy is called heliocentric. I urge you not to bandy astronomy or physics with me. 😉

            • @Wardaddy: Yes it does in my view of the world. There is no right or wrong view. Everything is relative.

  • If you download now on any android device, can you redownload for FREE to your other device later on?
( "free to download from 3 to 5 of April")

    • +2

      Yes

    • +1

You can also share it with your family if you have a family plan with YouTube music.

      • +4

Or if you just belong to a Google family group. No need to have a YouTube Music family plan.

    • +1

Yes. Once you tap "Install" (even if you cancel it before downloading), it will be added to your account and you will be able to download it on any of your linked devices later on.

    • +1

Yea it becomes part of your library. If you're in a google play family, all other members get it too

  • +4

This could be useful for anyone looking to buy a property.

    • Care to elaborate? I am in the market!

      • +1

      • +1

Stuff like making sure your property isn’t just in the shadow of a neighbouring property during winter months

  • At iOS alternative

  • +1

This website does a similar thing and I found it helpful: http://shadowcalculator.eu

  • +1

Does someone mind explaining to my what you would use this app for?

    • +2

If you are buying solar panels for eg

    • +3

Building a house or planning to grow certain plants and vegetables etc

    • +3

Saves going outside to see where the sun is :-)

    • Working out which way the front of the place faces (hotter in afternoon…which part of house you want to face when etc..)

    • +1

Working out what times of day you'll be producing vitamin D from the sun (only when your shadow is shorter than your height, that is), which varies by latitude and season.

  • +2

    Another one: http://suncalc.net

  • +1

Maybe this would be good for working out the optimum angle for your solar panels in summer and winter. Though adjusting them would be a pain… unless there is something that does that for you.

    • +1

There is.. a solar panel installer would do that for you 😉🤣

  • if i install this on one device and it subsequently appears in my google app library, does that mean i can install it later on to any other devices i might have? or is it just restricted to the device i installed it on during the promo period?

    • +1

It will always remain in your Google account so can be installed on any device linked to that account, now or down the line.

      • thanks
