nbn Won't Connect after Transfer to New ISP

Hi All,

Looking for anyone with solutions to my problems:

I've been with Tangerine Telecom for 6 months. I enjoyed the static IP address but it's not worth sticking with them after the discount so I signed up to Superloop as they have decent prices and reviews.

I was aware that it was risky porting on a long weekend but didn't think it'd fail (guess why we're here) and I can't really do it during the week either as I need to work. I also didn't want to be paying heaps to tangerine.

So I believe it did a "rapid churn" or whatever its called nowadays. About 10 minutes after I applied I received an SMS saying that I had successfully changed. I removed the PPPoE info for Tangerine, set it to dynamic IP and away we … didn't go.

Power cycles, factory resets and different cables later they've lodged a ticket but said expect 2 business days.

Has anyone had anything similar happen? If they didn't figure out a solution how long did it take for resolution?

This is a FTTC connection sitting behind a TP link AX50 in case that's of interest but I've tried connecting PC to NCD with no luck.

Did they configure a different ntd port?

FTTC NTD only has 1 port.

  • Why not just restore the old tangerine settings? Then when NBN reopens after the weekend you can find out what went wrong with the transfer.

    • What do you mean? The settings stopped working after the port happened. It's like when you change mobile providers and the service just stops on the first. I dont see how I can make it come back…

      • Well if it didn’t actually port correctly perhaps your connection is still configured for you old provider? All your post says is you got a text? Did the old connection actually stop working before you changed the settings?

        • Sorry, yes. It totally cut out without me touching anything.

  • Hey OP, curious to find out what the issue was if your service is already back online

  • Sure. So the guy I spoke to put in a ticket but said to just keep an eye on it as sometimes the transfers get fixed.

So from Friday to SAturday night I tried direct PC connection and router connection. In both instances the devices could "see" the ethernet connection but while waiting for DHCP wouldn't get an IP.

Sunday night I walked past and happened to noticed that some pings I was running were responding on the PC (I cut out the router to reduce potential points of failure) once that worked I shoved the port into router WAN but it STILL didn't work. A few reboots later and we were back in business!

If you need to know more just shout out. Basically 1.5 days of no activity, then after business hours on easter saturday it started working. Noone telling me they fixed anything.
